Hard for me to understand how it could be unintentional, how do you forget your kid is still in the car for 17 hours.

I've baby-sat children since I was seven, and I've never been able to take my *eyes* off them when they're in my care, much less leave them in a parked car. Suggested method of punishment for these fine folks, once the guilty verdict comes in? Locked in the same SUV for seventeen hours.
also meal time, at least two meals within that period, when they eat didn't they realize a table setting was missing? Unless they were so high on drugs how could you not notice? What a world we are living in, it gets worse everyday.

I really have no idea. I can see where some cases could be unintentional, as I know some really dingy, stupid, and forgetful people. I wouldn't put it past some of them to forget about their child in the car. But like you mentioned, Larry... how could they not notice for that long at home?

Sentence for this crime: punishment in kind. I just can't muster any empathy for people like this. I can't relate to 'forgetting' about someone important to you. The agony that child suffered is unthinkable.

Even if it wasn't, they should still be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. That is just disgusting. Glad to know you're still around...
