I mean someone has a pet and it dies or they got it for one purpose which in this case is eating.

Voted : Yes it is.
I imagine it would be legal because there are people here from other countries where such animals may be their normal cuisine. Not allowing them to eat their favorite food might be considered a form of racism (for lack of a better word).

Yep. I love my cats and dogs, but they're no less or more of an animal than a chicken or cow.

As long as it's not abused while it's alive or killed inhumanely, it's perfectly legal.

And as long as it's not served publicly. The FDA sort of frowns on that.

It's not illegal to eat dogs or cats... However, there is a catch.
Its illegal to kill a dog or cat (in some states) for food consumption, and illegal to sell dog or cat meat commercially in all states.

well they eat shit burtgers. but i'd imagine there are certain laws in certain states that dont allow preparation or some other such excuse.

but hey they eat much worse in the us of a so i would imagine a cat or dog could only be an improvement in their dietary habits
