The media brainwash the people alright, but it isn't the government who's behind it. Here in the US, television is primarily an advertising medium. Entertainment is secondary.

(January 10) …with reference my memo of the 9th, do not discuss the French business unless and until. The Bush people want an administration change in Paris and we have to be careful not to mention any military assistance from our side. Diplomatic and economic pressure will be tried first. The French will cave in just like Brazil will stop its fingerprinting of US citizens. Either that or the World Bank and IMF will put them on the grill. Bush is visiting their president and will give him the word that we will not permit some third world state to dictate to us…they have even been photographing diplomats and CIA commercial cover people!
It is my view that about 75% of the media is trying to perpetuate a socialist agenda. Which is puzzling, since socialism in Russia could not sustain thier economy.

you honestly don't think that US steelworkes would still be payed 35$ an hour to push a drill bit. America is slowly being weened off it's high standard of living. It's over, all manufacturing jobs are moving to the cheapest labor markets, nothing you can do about that. The dollar is dropping becaouse Bush.co has been an economic disaster and abberation. the best bet is to get into the service sector and don't expect to make a decent living right out of highschool like in the 1950's. It's a global economy now, and hopefully this will get many fat Americans off their asses and get good grades and catch up with the Japanese and Europe in math and science scores. Praying for the "rapture" wont help jobs stay in the deep south either.
Naturally, the common people dont want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country. Hermann Goering.
