WHAT WOULD YOUR COUNTRY DO WITHOUT AMERICAN TELEVISION SHOWS/MOVIES AND MUSIC?

[+] joke ballot by Dingleberry
created Sun Jan 11, 04

It's funny how some people talk bad about America and then sign off their computer to go watch The Simpsons.

I don't know
Invade America & demand tv shows/movies & music
rejoice at getting rid of that shit
Sit around sipping cider and playing rugby
They are horrific and should be banned anyway.
I don't watch mind, numbing crap!
Be pissed
immigrate
Kill random people!!!!
I would go wank my cousin
get drunk
Not even notice, hardly see it here

COMMENTS:
Dingleberry, although you have an unfortunate name, I think you're on to something. They say they hate us, yet they buy every product we've got, listen to all our music, watch our TV shows and movies, drive our cars, buy our weapons, visit our amusement parks, eat our food, attended our colleges and emmigrate here by the millions. But still, they hate us. And then they say we have no culture and that we're stupid, which, by the way, is our greatest strength - they always underestimate us.

by Lazy_N_Crazy on Sun Jan 11, 04 5:13pm [+]

Hey Lazy n Crazy, you may not like our personality but more then half of our sitcoms are based on how the average American person lives on a day to day basis. We're not much different.
by Dingleberry on Sun Jan 11, 04 5:38pm [+]

O, just for the record. All of the actors/singers/musicians that you like or even idolize are under the same presidency as us. Some may have even voted for Bush. Makes ya think huh?

Fucking liar. You're not fooling anyone

I would also like to ask a question.

What would youre country do without European inventions such as the TV or computer. What would they do if Europeans hadn't discovered electricity or how to record sound?

Its funny how Americans talk bad about Europe and then sign off their COMPUTER and go watch the simpsons on their TV.

I also have another question.

Ever heard of Big Brother, Pop idol/American Idol, Weakest link, coupling, who wants to be a millionaire, lord of the rings, harry potter, coldplay, radiohead etc..?
Thought you might have.
by bobs_your_uncle on Mon Jan 12, 04 11:45am [+]

Man you're a fucking idiot. America controls all that shit. The weakest link is by far the most annoying show of it's time. It's boring as fuck. Radio head doesn't even sing in their songs. They just whine. Big brother was cancled a long time ago. Quit trying to turn the tables and avoid the question.
by Dingleberry on Mon Jan 12, 04 12:18pm [+]

Don't be afraid to say that your favorite movie is made in America.
by Dingleberry on Mon Jan 12, 04 12:19pm [+]

Americans makes some good stuff (simpsons), admittedly, but they also make some awfull bull shit, and the weekest link is evil. I tihnk most american sitcoms are plane and repetetive, but im used to brtish sitcoms, with there strange british sence of humor.
by Lazy_N_Crazy on Mon Jan 12, 04 1:02pm [+]

I think the weakest link is British. That maybe why only Brits are on it
by Dingleberry on Mon Jan 12, 04 1:08pm [+]

Fat chance.

If you use the media as a country's barometer, then it's going to be cloudy until you die.
by Applerod on Wed Jan 14, 04 3:41pm [+]

American TV is crap compared to English Tv, ok there are a few exceptions but not many
by BigG on Fri Jan 16, 04 4:51am [+]

First of all, Ever heard of Big Brother, Pop idol/American Idol, Weakest link, coupling, who wants to be a millionaire, harry potter, coldplay, radiohead all suck. It is mindless crap people watch, read and listen to. Most of what you listed is contributing to the dumbing down of the world. The only good thing is Lord of the Rings. The book was written by and Englishman though the movie was filmed in and directed by a New Zealander, funded by Americans with special effects by Americans. The actors were British, American and New Zealanders.

The first, very early, very primitive form of a computer which is basically copper wire and gears was invented by a German. Since then all advancements have been made by Americans, including all the operating systems which billions of computers operate on throughout the world. Without the US' advancement in computers Europe would still be using punchcards and stamps like the Victorian age.

I don't think the movies and music America produces is anything to brag about but there is nothing great or new being produced anywhere in the world now, especially not in Europe.

I love England but they don't have a leg to stand on when criticizing American media. The UK is flooded with crappy tabloids even worse than the US and their television is a pit, worse than the US' as well and that's saying a lot. They had a lot of great authors (Dickens, Orwell) but so did the US (Hemingway, Twain, Faulkner).

Bottom line; TV sucks, most movies suck. Read a book, preferably one with correct facts so you don't continue to spew inaccuracies.
by bruno on Sat Feb 14, 04 6:09pm [+]

Speaking of inaccuracies, the first programmable electronic computer was British, developed to break the Lorenz code used by German Enigma machines. And you might want to look up Alan Turing and Tim Berners-Lee in that book of yours, bruno.

Media? How many US newspapers routinely carry foreign news?
