This is the same sq1364 who entered a poll asking what our favourite book of the Bible is. No, seriously. So, who gives a flying fuck what the child-molesting, God-bothering tosser thinks, eh?
What did I ever do to you to get so much hatred ?
I prefere rugby, people bleed more, and we can actuly win at it!
For a hundred years soccer has been played by immigrants in the United States and Canada. It was the children of immigrants who rejected soccer as the sport of "the old country." Like all children, they wanted to fit into the group and therefore, played Canadian and American sports like hockey and baseball. They didn't want to be thought of as foreigners like their parents, so in order to assimilate they did everything their friends were doing, which was not play soccer. It's only been recently that 3rd and 4th generation Americans and Canadians have taken up soccer. They have no insecurities or about their nationalities. Soccer's a great sport!
Awwwwww, why do Europeans get so pissy when Americans don't want to play their boring, inefficient sports? Oh, the play for 100 minutes in a row? They have great endurance? WOW. Do you also enjoy watching marathons and other endurance-based sports? Football and basketball rely on strength, speed, and skill, rather than endurance.
Oh come on American football a good sport!! If there ever was a boring game its American football, you say soccer is too slow American football is stop start all the time. And why do they have to wear all the protection? Have you heard of a game caleed Rugby? Its played by proper MEN and not faggots protected up to the eyeballs, is that why the USA has a shit rugby team because they don't like getting hurt?

Soccer is the world's most popular sport because it's CHEAP and poor nations can play it. The expenses to play soccer (the ball, 4 objects to represent 2 goals) are cheaper than a hockey rink, football equipment, or a basketball court.
Of course they're stronger than Vinatieri. Kickers and punters are the smallest football players.
Because you're too damn stupid to PLAY IT. BTW, Mexico eliminated you from playing at the Olimpics (4-0). I only can say: HA! I'm glad I won't see you play your lousy FOOTBALL, you "soccer" haters yanks FAGS!!!
Kick-ball is only popular in countries where they cannot afford an army. Instead of building empires, England, Germany and Italy are now neutered and have to settle for kicking a little ball around as an outlet for inter-country aggression.
A lot of Americans dislike football (aka "soccer") for a number of reasons. Firstly, they think that scoring is the only exciting part of a game. This is sort of like wanting to watch a thriller in which there is an action scene every minute which comes from nowhere without any tension and build-up. Oh, hang on, that seems strangely familiar somehow...
In the US it's also customary to treat sport as background entertainment; you drink beer and talk with your buddies and occasionally look up when you know a scoring opportunity is likely. In football you have to be following the game to *know* that a scoring opportunity is likely. Also, most Americans like their games to be described mainly using statistics. Football doesn't lend itself to that.
Another factor is that many Americans seem to think that if a bunch of poor people from South America can be world champions of a sport, there must be something wrong with the sport: if it was a proper sport only the rich and powerful should be able to win at it. Watch the episode of 'The Simpsons' where there's a "'soccer' game in town; it's actually part of the intended joke that either Mexico or Portugal could be the greatest soccer nation in the world. (What, those poor little latinos? Come on! How funny, hee hee!) Football can be played by almost anyone; you don't need expensive equipment, just talent.
Most important of all, however, is that it doesn't lend itself to non-stop TV commercials. Without that, no network is going to be interested in showing it in a prime-time spot, because the dollar is king in the USA. So why would kids grow up being interested in sports that are rarely on TV and whose stars they don't really know?
This is just a theory of mine, but I think the biggest reason soccer isn't a huge North American pastime is because sponsors need airtime to sell you their beer and cars....soccer is a 45 minute ordeal, followed by another 45. Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, all have moments where commercials can be aired for your viewing agony. Another reason is wagering. Wagering is huge business in the U.S. Because all sports over here can be bet so many ways...first field goal, first injury, point spread, you name it. But soccer is elegant in it's simplicity, it's pure athleticism at its finest, and I think networks don't know how to present it here. I have to add that I was pretty impressed with the U.S. team in Korea, they definitely have the ability.
footy rocks
Soccer is not a game, football is. 4.75 billion people call football football and American football American football. You parochial american dimwit
wots soccer?
Soccer is a simple, boring game, with no complexity, nothing to learn, nothing at all fun about it to watch once you realize how much better American football actually is. Seriously, the reason the rest of the world watches soccer is because they are not intelligent enough to learn how football or basketball works, they just want to sit back and watch someone run around kicking a ball to someone else, etc, etc, with one, maybe two scores a game. Pathetic, boring, and it doesn't take many brain cells to figure out how it works. It shouldn't even be a sport.
I'm sorry, I was dozing off there for a minute. What was the question again?
Yeah right. The whole of the rest of the world is stupid, is it jappy? You've gone off the deep end, mate.
I could never get into watching soccer on TV. But last summer Manchester United played Juventus here in NJ at the Meadowlands. It was an very exciting game to watch live, except there are no time-outs to relieve yourself of those 32oz. beers. But in all a great experience. Maybe it was the ManU fans wearing their robes with the red cross.
Please tell Man Utd lost. But, yes ,pope. Football is great to watch live. It is in the sport's favour that there aren't goals all the time. Teams really have to carve out opportunities and think about how they do it. You can see them working it out from the crowd. When a goal goes in for the team you support the excitement it produces is like nothing else. Especially if you're all singing and urging the boys on. Can't wait til the start of the season, now.
soccer is the most popular youth sport in America. More popular than baseball, football, and basketball combined. You just know nothing about it.
To the rest of the world. Enjoy your domination in this sport. The soccer generation in America is growing up. MLS is getting more and more popular. The mens team is getting better and better and is very young. We are starting to become a power. I think depending on injuries we could have a decent chance and the World Cup in 2006 or 2010. By the way, ignore all these hicks and older generations, they don't know what they are talking about.
That will be good. International footy is becoming much more equal and competitive. The World Cup (even though it's probably fixed) is still brilliant when it comes around.
im american and yet i kno amreicans(at least most)are just to stupid to understand it
