Your right to walk down that road. While you're *being* activist, try to re-estsablish the principles that it was based on, as opposed to what Mister Bush has made it.

because I am not really sure what an activist republican is all about

Looking back the last 40 years and considering who has been mainly responsible for getting us to where we are now... does that bother you ???

An Activist Republican? I looked it up in the encyclopedia and it defines it as "an asshole that gets progressively worse."

Ahhhhhhh. That's really cute.

Not to worry, a little penicillin and a lot of education should clear it all up.

If you go to the world of OZ, you can request the wizard to give you a heart and a brain, that definitely will clear up the problem...
Some, I'm ok with. Others I hate!
Voted : Depends on what you do
If you're a Ron Paul/ Barry Goldwater type of Republican, then, to my mind, you're following a noble path.
I am definitely not a Ron Paul type. I don't mind the man so much but his fans are really, really creepy. I admire, of course, Goldwater. By activist I mean that I contact voters, poll watch, phone bank, walk precincts, precinct captain, organize fundraiser, bundle fundraising, introduce candidates to my groups etc.
I guess I meant to say that I respect the "old school" Republicans, while I am wary of neocons. I mean, I like the isolationist-leaning, truly fiscally conservative, solid currency, small government types, that were the majority in the party before the late 1940's/early 1950's, that's all. As a Libertarian, I find a lot more in common with that crowd. Goldwater may not be the best representative, although Ron Paul's a plausible modern equivalent. Seriously, I'd have voted for Herbert Hoover over FDR in 1932.
I don't care for the "religious right" at all, and I don't mind saying that. Goldwater did detest the Jerry Falwells of the world in his later years and was quite vocal about it. Good for him...
