. . . do you go ahead and buy it anyway, because that's all that is available?

For example, I hate the new tops for women that look like the image at right. They completely cover up one's shape -- in fact, to me, they almost look like maternity wear.

Do you buy things just because they are 'in' or do you just wear your old stuff till the trends get better?

I buy it anyway; it's the fashion.
I don't buy it; I wear my old clothes till the trend passes.
I buy only what looks good on me.
Lol nI wear the old stuff till the trend comes back!

I don't buy antything just because it's trendy although now-a-days, I do wear my lime green leisure suit with the crotch of the pants down around the knees. 005

I've never run with the fashion trends, save for the era when every guy wore sweaters. And that was because I'd been wearing them for years before.

If the hottest, trendiest style looks bad on me, they can keep it. However, by some weird coincidence, the new style like what you show looks great on me. I bought two. Hee hee.
