ISRAEL'S PRIME MINISTER RESIGNS

[+] serious ballot by JimmyJams
ACTIVE Wed Jul 30, 08 - Tue Oct 28, 08

With an escalating investigation into massive corruption allegations and amid an abysmal popularity rating, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he will resign in September.

The annoucement has thrown Israel into political turmoil and has raised serious doubts about any real prospects for a peace accord with the Palestinians, Syria and the Middle East in general.

Olmert stated that he would not be running in his party's primary election come September and that he would step down afterward, so as to enable his successor to form a government. Ironically and to the chagrin of many, due to Israel's political system, he could actually end up serving well into next year.

What is your opinion of his resignation and the effects, or lack thereof, that it will have on Israel and the Middle East peace process?

His resignation
His resignation is not warranted
His resignation is just
Just in time to take the reigns of the U.S.

Not sure what happened with my options. Sorry once again. IMO, his resignation is just. Clearly he was corrupt. Ultimately though, I feel it will actually be for the betterment of the Middle East peace process.

Don't worry everyone. I'm sure someone equally corrupt will be found to take his place. But if, by chance, his replacement looks like he might actually get somewhere with the peace process rest assured a lone nut will shoot them.
