Good question. I'd say offing a home invader would be justifiable, hell we all swat to kill pests that do no us no good in our homes. Other than that I don't know, revenge on a murderer or sex offender would usually be pre-meditated, not that it isn't deserved, but even capital offenders have rights; right to a fair trial, and if convicted, a right arm to stick the needle in.
