You can REMEMBER spiders, so that is what I fear. Once I am dead, there is nothning to remember. Tho it is the death of loved ones I sorrw for, but not my own.

actually I have done a lot to get over the fear of spiders, I held a tarantula in my hand, just to get over the fear.
but problem is that's under a controlled environment where I can supress my instincts. If I catch a glimpse of it at the corner of my eye, I still jump about 10 feet back screaming like a 5 year old girl... :)
