SHOULD THERE BE MORE CHOICE IN WHERE CERTAIN PRODUCTS ARE MANUFACTURED?

Almost all electronics, toys, plastics, some fabrics and even shoes where manufactured in China at some stage in their development these days, if not totally manufactured in China.

I try my best to avoid purchasing anything with the renown 'made in china' trademark on it, knowing how oppressive the Chinese government can be to its people and the fact that they are now the worlds top polluter. But sometimes I'm left no choice, and I'm often left wishing that certain products weren't so monopolized when it comes to their origin...

But it'll never happen, as long as Big Business, Inc runs the show. Low operating costs=higher profits.

It is already happening. Rising fuel costs have made corporations move manufacturing home. About time too. Thank Mr. Bush for helping to achieve that goal. He won't get any creidt however. MAG_eye

But if we wind up really having a choice, we still have to be wary about that chocie. Some Made in America products are actually made in Asia. They get away with it because the Asian companies do their manufacturing on US-owned pockets of land or islands in Asia, and which the US claims to be American soil. I can just imagine the enormous paybacks. But the location is still in Asia, the workers are Asian and they are treated as badly as the rest of them.
