Into this, I say this. At eighteen, a person cannot walk into a bar and buy a shot of Jack Daniels. But that *same* person can walk into a recruiting office, sign a piece of paper, and risk walking into a bullet for their country. Does this make any sense?
Voted : Yes
^^ The world doesn't make any sense. And that bullet they would be walking into is not for the good of THEIR country.
^ AMEN TO THAT, brother!

Teenagers are TOO DUMB to be responsible with alcohol. They have the highest accident rate as drivers. Just what they need, some booze while driving. More booze drivin' teenage pregnancies too. Taxpayer money goes to pay for them. Hey while we're at it, lets let them have hand guns and some drugS too. Now we have armed drunk teenagers high on drugs driving cars in YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD ON THE STREETS YOU LIVE ON AND YOU KID PLAY ON! Sounds great doesn't it, YOU GODDAMNED MORONS!

We are having a perpetual debate... when I was 17 the drinking age was 21 and we were being drafted into the vietnam war... the problem is when kids 18 are allowed to drink, they have friends 15, 16, 17, and perhaps 14 who winds up getting to drink also because they have someone to buy it for them, and many of them will get addicted. lowering the the age won't help... everyone wants to be an adult too some but without the responsibilities. War: they take the kids because as they get older they get smarter, and as long as there is no draft, that's a straw argument...

Absolutely. What percentage of 20 year old in the U.S that don't drink illegally?

funny that and yet the legal killing age is what? 18? If you are man enough to go kill or be killed for your country you are man enough to buy a blasted beer
OK grapost why not up the age those teenagers who are too "dumb" to drink to 21 before they can go kill or be killed. Or do you think the willingness to do so might wear off with their dumbness?
Voted : No
It was not high enough for Senator Teddy Kennedy at Chappaquidic.
Keep the drinking age to 21 and make the killing age 21. WE should be the ones setting the intelligent standards for other countries to follow, and NOT following the irresponsible standards of all the other indulgent countries.
Grapost, most of the teenagers I know these days could sit down and teach maturity lessons to some of the *adults* I know. Not fair to lump them that way.
I hope everyone of you who thinks it's a good idea to lower the drinking age, ends up having a loved one killed by a teenage drunk driver.
grapost whats wrong with the alternative of raising the age people can join the defence forces to 21??

Yes it's too high since it's way to easy for kids to get the stuff anyways. I say if people want to screw up their lives they have that right.

People will abuse alcohol and other drugs at any age, many are predisposed to become alcoholics or drug addicts. Prohibition was proved a pointless exercise, so time to realise that people will drink, whatever restriction is put on it
