SHOULD TATTOO PARLORS BE LEGALIZED IN MASSACHUSETTS?

[+] serious ballot by Psycho_Frighead
ACTIVE Tue Sep 02, 08 - Sun May 29, 11

I read somewhere that tattoo parlors are illegal in Massachusetts now. This seems stupid to me.

I don't have any tattoos myself (that I know of), but if somebody's going to get one, is it better that they go to a studio and get one from a professional, or that they go to Lowe's and buy a Dremel tool, then go somewhere else and get some India Ink and guitar strings (I know people who have homemade ones)?

I mean, why not just let people have access to professional tattoo artists if they really want one?

Yes, legalize tattooing.
No, don't legalize it.

People will get them whether they're legal or not. Not allowing legally licensed tattoo parlors that are approved by the state board of health seems as if it would just open the doors for the underground establishments that usually don't practice the safety standards that reputable tattooists do.

The only tattooist that I've used is also an R.N. If or when I decided to get another, I wont go to anyone else.

With the alternative being unlicensed facilities where anything can happen to a client? I'd love to see the stats on infections resulting from this.
