The alongside Israel, doesn't undermine Israel right to exist but: a)Israel's governments are acting towards that goal too, and somehow I feel this demonstration is not in favor of Israel or its government. b)Thos who claim that Israel has no right to exist bring those jewish and Israeli protests against Israel's policies as an illustration that even its people don't agree with Israel's policies (although it's a democratic elected government), so this international demonstrations makes Israel's enemies stronger. The antisemitism has two forms - the older is based on church's claims that jews killed Jesus, and therefore Yada Yada Yada. The second is the modern - combination of Jealousy, blaiming the different, racism and to these days Israel's policies seen by the Arab propeganda machine. Any other questions?

Even if the occupation isn't legal, Israel shouldn't be pressured to give up its claims in that argument (Although I think it's legal but that is not what you are talking about), for a Palestinian state that will be filled with terrorists groups who acts towards the destruction of Israel - and to stop what they see as 1948 occupation. When the current leadership of the Palestinians isn't even intented to fight those very strong groups which has about 35% approval in the palestinian street, I don't think that Israel should withdraw and let the palestinians be responsible for its security.
Forget the jealousy, but whenever it is hard econimically, the foreigns were always blamed, and traditionaly, those foreigners are the jews.
Now, about the next thing I don't understand what atrocities are you talking about - if the supposed genocide so I'll say that it simply wrong and you're accepting the arab propeganda without checking the facts.
If you're talking about the occupation itself, it'll be very long, because this is one of the main points of the conflict, and if you're talking about the houses being destroyed: Israel tries to fight terror in the most human way, civilians get hurt because the terror operates within the populaetion - not like Al-Quaeda in the caves, so instead of leveling whole cities by air, Israel performs surgical operations that will enable it to fight the terror and clean it from its roots - the cities, don't even think that Israel has no right to fight terror in order to defend itself, and with that need, I think that the things that are being done are the most human way of countries to deal with this kind of terror. Take America's war in Iraq for example, do you think they are risking soldiers by sending them on their own to terrorists' nests in the middle of crowded and hostile cities?
Now, it is legitimate to criticize Israel, and join Israel's enemies, I can't stop that, but those jews should know what damage they're doing by that, and don't protest for world peace and utopian values when they're real brothers are in a real, ugly and painful war. That's why I comment to the serious people on this site that criticize Israel, to tell you the truth of my side without slogans and BS.

Well, you have quoted me say the beginning of the sentence, my point is that no matter who is right about the broader argument, Israel shouldn't just withdraw and allow the curent, corrupted and terror - supporting Palestinian leadership to get more power as a terror state.
I have no illusions, I know the protestors are calling just for that - Israeli retreatment. And even if I'm wrong and it is only about the broader issue, that'll be the 4th time that I say it: jews shouldn't (pay attention to the shouldn't) in any case support the claims of those who seek to destroy their true and only homeland. A great example of such is Benny Morris, who is the symbol of Israeli and jewish self-hate.
I won't deny that there were massacares in 1948, but you should remember, that in that time there was a war between the arab people living in mandatory Palestine, against the jewish people who lived there. Those attrocities were before Israel as an independent state was created and gained complete control over the jewish seperate militias and armies. But, those claims are one-sided, and it'll become an argument over the conflict itself that is too wide to cover so you'll always find something else to say about Israel. But I won't leave it unanswered.

Because the history is very long, and filled with arab uprisings and massacaring jews I'll make it short: Since the beginning of the British Mandate over Palestine, the major Arab uprisings were in 1920,1921,1929 - in which about 200 innocent defenceless jews were killed. In 1936-1939 There was a major outbreak called "The Arab Mutiny" in which both British and jews were killed by the hundreds. WWII - Arabs for Hitler hoping he will conquer the mideast, some jews recruit to the British Army. 1947 after the partition plan another major Arab uprising killing whole communities and villages of jews, until 1948, Israel's declaration of independence, day after that, 7 Arab countries' armies invaded the 1 day old country. 100 million Arabs vs. 600,000 jews in unorganized yet countries. Wherever the Arabs arrived and conquered they either slain or expelled the jews that were there.
And like today but then even more - it was an ugly war in which civilians (then from both sides) are in the fronts. So be more balanced, and don't judge what we did then with todays perspective, because obviously you and me don't know all the facts.

And for your last remark, I understand that Israel's policies encourage terror, but there is no alternative in my opinion. I'm not even thinking of withdrawing, because such move can open a door to uncontroled terror, if Israel isn't protecting its borders, they'll stay unprotected because they palestinians can't or won't (it doesn't really matter) protect them.
Notice that there is one thing that Israel does in order to decreace the friction with the Palestinian people and that is the fence - it'll stop suicide bombers from infiltrating to Israel without the need of Israeli presence in the cities. But as what happens in Gaza where there is already a fence, the Palestinians are developing and illegaly smuggling rockets and mortars, so to completely stop the attacks on Israelis, Israel should and will stay there, until the Palestinian leadership is ready to fight and completely prevent terror.

Kunta, you and all others have a wrong basic assumption, that the west bank and gaza belong to the palestinians historically, and the rest of Israel is jewish. Those borders are those of Israel's independence war of 1947-1949 - Gaza was egyptoccupied (not annexed, so Palestinians won't have egyptian citinzenship) and the west bank was Jordan's with the same arrangements. The arabs expelled/slaughtered the jews in their occupied territories, and there were about 15,000 jews there - jerusalem, Gush Etzion etc. The palestinians in Israel's territories was expelled if they were in places who terrorized the jewish population, but those who stayed - and a lot did, got their Israeli citinzenship eventually. Anyway those borders that you claim to be the correct ones - the green line, is those of cease fire arrangements, if Israel progressed further would you agree to those borders?
Another point is that from the beginning of the British mandates in the middle east, all the arabs hoped to get arabic country - not based on territorial differences between Iraqis and Egyptians for example. The Palestinians are no different, their only national identity was arabic - not palestinians, and traditionally palestine was considered as integral part of Syria province of the Ottoman empire. Anyway because of the British imperialism that country they promised to Arabs was not established, but it never contained palestine in its territories. The national seperation between the arabs was done artificially and with no consideration to their real national identities. Of course the arabs didn't accepted Israel, so they created the palestinian people concept, in order to justify their claim over the land of Israel, which was promised to the jews by the british. Israel claims, what I think is true, that the Palestinians are no seperate people, and they can live in another arab countries, like Jordan who has a majority of 3 million palestinians, 1 million bedouines and a Saudi - hashemi king, Anyway the arabs have no historical right to Palestine, because there was never a palestinian state there, and most of the palestinians are immigrates from other arab countries - for example Yasser Arafat was originally from egypt, but he didn't considered himself egyptian - but arab, so he immigrated internally to Palestine.
This is long and complicated, and hard to explain over the internet, especially in english, but you shouldn't make this assumption and judge the current events objectively when you deal with Israel's actions.
And the position of the Israeli governments since 1993, is that the gaza and west bank are Israeli soil, but for real peace with the arabs, Israel will give up on those, but won't do this for bunch of killers and terrorists who currently run the Palestinian government.

I think that just brings the point against the arabs further, because we're doing NOTHING in comparison as to what we COULD be doing to them, therefore, I advise them to shut up. and if they don't want to, let them go to one of the other 14 fully- muslim countries in the Middle East, and leave our tiny land alone!!!

Kunta justice, I too believe that only in a good debate, I can convince people and make them really understand Israel's position, and Israel has a very good case and arguments, so don't progress and move to other sides of the conflict, if you don't accept our claims - just keep asking again, so we won't leave unanswered questions or doubts in your mind about the conflict - I want you to understand every argument we present. And don't quit in the middle, if you really want to understand us.
Because it's going to be long I'll divide my response to subjects that you raised
The right of the palestinians to those lands: If you check what I said about their right I said that the Palestinian nation has no right to those lands, not as individual palestinians who lived there before. Historical right is lacking because never the palestinians as a seperate nation existed independently, and never before the palestinian nationality was brought up, because back than (before 1917) palestinians were the people whose nationality was arab / muslim, and currently lived in Palestine - it refered to their territorial ascription - their nationality was not based on those detailed - they saw themselves part of the arab nation. Now, as to those who lived here, the Zionism refers to them, and the original but naive plan was, that the ARABS who lived in Palestine would cooperate and encourage the zionist jewish immigration to their lands, because they'll help to develop the once desert and swamps country - and the locals will enjoy those progresses, as equal citinzens in democratic "state of the jews". But the arabs from the beginning saw the zionists as agents of western imperialism, and started to fight them with uprisings and random massacares before Israel, and full scale miliatry invasions of neighboring arab countries as soon as Israel was created. THEY CHOSE WAR, and by that lost the friendship of the zionist movement, which was intended to acknowledge their right to their lands - not as a seperate nations - but as individuals, who would live either with the jews in their current home - Palestine, or they could have moved back to other parts of the arab world, living under other arabs in self(any arabic)-governed country. Yes lands were taken away from them, but it was in the middle of a war in which arab countries told the palestinians to leave those lands, because soon Egypt and Jordan will reconquer those lands and enable arabs to settle there under their government (Not refering to Palestinian nationality again). Those who chose to stay, in Israel's territories in 1948 - independence war and chose peace , live today as equal citinzens in democratic Israel, and enjoy prosperity, that their arab brothers in non-oil arab countries can only dream about. GNP Israel - 17,000 $ per person, egypt, jordan, lebanon and syria all below 2000$, and Israel has not even a drop of oil in its territories, all thanks to development of the land by the zionists. In contrast to Israel hospitality after 1948, the palestinians who fled according to arab countries' advise, are today live in poverty in refugees camps in the same countries that told them to escape, without getting any citinzens rights, so they won't forget where they came from - Palestine, and as a reminder that only there they are deserve to be treated as human beings. Although that even a years before Israel's creation arab palestinians would be accepted and welcomed in those arab countries because the thing they have in common - their arab nationality.
And if you want some information I'll say that there was a major wave of arab immigration from Syria and Egypt to Palestine between 1830-1947, and when Israel was established, 75% of arabs in palestine province weren't originated from there before 1830, so even the individual bond to palestine isn't centuries old - like jewish historical right, because the jewish country existed there for over 500 years - 1200B.C. - 586 B.C., 538 B.C.-167B.C. - as an autonomy, and since then until the roman conquest (~70B.C.) again as independet state.

About Israel's democracy, you present two issues, the first is the internal corruptions of Sharon's governments. So, yes Sharon is ivestigated and suspected that he was bribed, but Israel is dealing with that in a democratic way, through courts and justice, and if the court finds that he can no longer serve as PM, he will resign, or be fired. This what happens with corruption in democracy, unlike how it is dealt in the Palestinian authority - I have commented on that earlier in this ballot...
