Voted : She shouldn't be evicted if she had lived
And she shouldn't have been evicted for suing, either. It's her right as a citizen. Again, I despair for humanity...
Voted : She shouldn't be evicted if she had lived
Of course not.
Voted : She shouldn't be evicted if she had lived
But that's what these people do.
The head of the housing authority is really a prick in my opinion; I had the displeasure of meeting him few times while visiting my aunt. Imagine if this woman had survived only to return to her apt from the hospital to see an eviction notice on her door, they were too cowardly to even tell her in person. She probably could have appealed the eviction and maybe even won, but that's not the point. A few years ago they had a "pot smoking grandmother”, that's what the media labeled her, she was in her 80's and was caught smoking pot in her apartment, she said it was for medical reasons, they evicted her as well, she moved to California and I hope she is doing well, but I don't know, seems to me there is no compassion. Makes me sad
this would be a case of retaliation, which is actually illegal. if an employee is suing their employer for sexual harassment, the employer cannot turn around and fire the employee because of the lawsuit. same principle here. her family can actually tack this onto their existing suit.
^ I think they probably will kev, this has really been a big story in Elmira, it's all over the local news, I don't know if it's the fault of the housing authority that the Legionnaires' disease got into the water system, the families wanted an independent lab to inspect the the system and the housing authority denied the request, if they have nothing to hide, why not allow , seems like they would welcome that, it's in the courts now to decide.
they are really digging themselves into a hole by retaliatory behavior, after a Legionaires Disease?!?!? god knows what kind of neglect that resulted in that outbreak. Dead pigeons in the air conditioner duct no doubt. yeck.

I think the child of one of the residents who is suing should tack on #1 abuse of a senior citizen and #2 abuse of a person who at that time was ill from a disease THEY caused. What they did reminds me of hospitals who will take patients from the hospital who they find are not able to pay and dump them in back alleys. I hope this person holds onto that eviction notice for dear life. That note is golden evidence. The note is also the dumbest thing that complex could ever have done. Talk about stupid criminals.
