COMMENTS:
doubtful. some of them are truly intelligent and good people. herzog and felix come to mind. but others are totally delusional. they have the nerve to drape themselves in the american flag and have the balls to maintain that they are true and good americans. really? while the party you prop up totally rapes, plunders and pillages the nation? ha! and the kicker is, many are totally blind to what experts are telling them. yet like messed up meth addicts they'll keep putting the same old criminals back in office. even worse, these same people are the ones losing everything and they're almost too ignorant to see it! some of them deserve everything they get.
Voted : Yes, they have thrown in the towel
As far as I can see, they only use abuse and ad hominem these days
Voted : No, there are still die hard conservatives out there
They live for this stuff. They can't get enough of it. Without something to lie, steal or cheat about they feel their life serves no purpose. If the Democratic Party folded they'd probably commit mass suicide. Kool Aid Anyone?
Voted : Where's Edward R. Murrow when you need him?
There were people who could make that case with courage. Where are they now?
Voted : Some of us were never Republicans to begin with, you know...
"(i) Oppose Universal Health Care" Yes, I do, and my reasons for that are legion. I don't even support the insurance the government provides to roughly 1/4 of the population in one form or another now. "(ii) Highest deficit in history (remember their supposed to be fiscally sound)" This is a result of the neocon interventionist foreign policy, which Libertarians and fiscal conservatives don't support. "(iii) A religious war on two fronts" What in the hell are you talking about? Do you think they're burning witches in Texas? Is that what the BBC's reporting? "(iv) Believe one sex cannot choose what they do with their own body...." Yep, see my comments about Libertarians and fiscal conservatives above. We'll leave this to the religious right. "(v) .... yest support capital punishment" Yes, I do. I can't stand all of this sniveling over murderers, rather than their victims. "(vi) Largest outsourcing of jobs in living memory" ...And this isn't happening on about the same scale in socialist Europe or in Japan or the more developed economies in Asia? Really? "(vii) Repossession of homes" From people who were never qualified to have them in the first place, with their credit ratings! The brokers who set these fraudulent sales up need to be prosecuted vigorously--all of them. "(viii) Gas prices at their highest in living memory (remember they said that the war with Iraq, would see oil at $20 a barrel)" Yeah, a few neocon commentators said this in their hubris. However, the real story here is that China and India are now becoming major consumers of oil, soon to be on Western levels. They aren't going away. Here in the U.S., we were well on the road to nuclear power, until the left-wing environmentalists went ape shit in the late 1970's over Three Mile Island. I envy France that 70% home grid derivation rate for nuclear plants. "(ix) Worst image abroad that I can remember (spurned the goodwill the world gave them after 9/11." I doubt the "9-11" goodwill would have lingered for very long. The European leftists have hated the U.S. at least since the early 1960's, if my readings are any indication. Again, Libertarians are isolationists, and I wish we'd just pull the troops back home. "(x) And finally, utterly betrayed the 'middle classes' who they purport to serve" Libertarians support those who compete best, not any demographic group. I think we're still fairly chipper on my side of the conservative street...
"some of them are truly intelligent and good people. herzog and felix come to mind" Ah, Kev24, I am too modest to reply, but I tip my hat in your direction. I promise I'll never sign up with the neocons.
So you won't be voting Republican in November? It would be utterly juxtaposition to so called 'libertarian' credentials. hah, libertarians, a more unworthy name has never been invented. A bunch of less mean spirited human beings I have yet to meet.
I didn't vote Republican in 2004, but, rather, for Michael Badnarik, the Libertarian candidate. If I do hold my nose and vote for McCain in November, it will be because I have even more disgust for Obama's likely taxation policies and his twisted idea of the function of government towards its citizens. "A bunch of less mean spirited human beings I have yet to meet." That sounded like a compliment, but I doubt it. No, I think socialists and communists are the lowest form of human life--parasites who praise and encourage the virtues of parasitism. At heart, they are a bit infantile in their world view--they need that paternalistic government to hold their hand, and to act as schoolmarm with the rest of the population.
And capitalism has worked so well for the majority of the world... ... we live in the 21st century and the Draconian right wing politics of the past should remain there. We live in a community wether conservatives like it or not and excluding a huge portion of the worlds population while the minority live like kings is utterly immoral

No doubt, they lurk.
I think the reason many of the good conservative debaters are no longer with us is because they got tired of being insulted, all lumped together, if you are a republican you must be an ass hole, pretty much the sentiment, I know republicans who don’t support the war in Iraq and are not flag waving robots that some people assume they must be. I supported Hillary Clinton and I left the site for awhile because I got tired of being called stupid, or brain dead, maybe not directly but ballots and comments were made that said this. My observation of MANY on this site is that if you are not totally in Obama's corner you must have a brain disorder. I’m also disappointed in the sexist remarks I see and how they allowed to stand with very little criticism, instead of saying I don’t like her policies, you get these long rants of how she is a cunt, cow , bitch, list goes on. Feel free to disagree but that's how I see it.
that's politics larry. like it or not thats the way it is on here and in reality too. republicans attack democrats, democrats attack republicans. it's name calling and all the ugliness that goes along. it's always been that way.
i guess what i'm saying is you need a thick skin and you need to have the ability to move on. political, social and economic debates are not for the faint of heart.
I can disagree with what a person says without calling them a cunt or brain dead, actually when I first joined this site I was insulting to anyone not having same view as me, I'm glad I outgrew that
everyone's different and expresses their views in many ways. like i said, politics is contorversial and always gets heated. someones going to get called something, whether that be the debaters or the candidates. that's just the reality of it. you express it the way thats best fot you and others should do the same.
everyone is happy until they are the one being insulted, if a person dishes it out they better be sure they can take it, I suppose is the moral of this story
of course. but its not like sarah palin is going to know that someone on here called her a cow. you think this is the only place that's happening? no. think hillary clinton cares what is said about her? probably not. you're talking to a gay guy here larry. i've been called every name under the sun from a "son of satan" to an evil sodomite who will burn in hell for all eternity." and much worse. what am i going to do? cry and stomp my feet? no, i give it right back to them. politics is ugly and names will be called. i wouldn't worry to much about the feelings of sarah palin or barack obama. i doubt they're losing sleep over it.
^ I also meant for those who supported Hillary as an example, who were called brain dead and stupid because they supported her, if someone said the same about Obama supporters, and I'm sure some did, I just didnt see it, I don't believe everyone would be saying, "that's your opinion, you certainly have the right to it" They would be pounced on, but that's politics as you said
good points one and all. you're right in effect. it sucks. but a mccain supporter will say something nasty about obama and obama supporters are going to cry foul and have a fit. same thing on the other side. obama supporters are going to call palin a cow or something and the viscious circle continues. may not be right and may confound the greatest of minds, but in my opinion, thats just the way it is and has always been here and everywhere.
^ You are right, go to a conservative blog and name calling is just as bad toward Obama supporters, I just wish it didn't' have to be that way on all sides. I kinda think of most of you guys as my digital friends and to be called stupid because I have different opinion is kinda sad, but yeah, it's not going to change so I better get used to it.
^ hey! who the hell called you stupid? i'll kick their ass! i would have called you a big ole' dummy. lol. i'm just teasing you. but who did call you stupid?
What Larry said in his first comment. Many also got tired of different sets of rules applying to different people.
