Do you think its okay for a Judge to say that?

I read an article awhile back about a person who was always getting into trouble, mostly barroom brawls, the judge apparently tired of seeing this person told him to leave town for at least three years or go to jail

Is this fair to the community or the law enforcement agencies that this person will relocate to, is it even constitutional?

Yes, okay for judge to do that
No, not okay for judge to do that

COMMENTS:
I'm realy not sure, though I'm thinking that a county judge has the legal authority to do it. I know it was a popular thing to do at one time because no one, citizens and judges alike, wanted to be home to an untrustworthy criminal or hoodlum.

As for now, I've known of judges who will tell an offender from out of town to never return back to the town in which the commited his crimes, but I'm not sure on making a resident leave.

That's just passing the buck, IMO. He should've stood up and done his job, His Dishonor.
