They have allowed these "terrible" restaurants to be built on their own soil. And THEY eat there. What's wrong with these idiots? Some foreign food is extremely fatty and heavy. Just because it is not cooked "fast" does not make it more nutritiouis. We may be fast in our stomachs, but they are slow in their heads. And jealous of our wonderful country.
And American restaurants as a whole are way cleaner than those in other countries. A man I once worked with who used to be a waiter in a famous upscale restaurant in Paris said they had to bang garbage can lids together to scare away the cockroaches and rats each morning. Yes, I think jealousy plays a big role in their lampooning of American cuisine.

Just as we do, all too often. And I hold my hand up in guilt first, apologizing to the French in particular.

It's the American food they like to eat. Same with American cigarettes and movies.
"BECAUSE IT IS! NOBODY COOKS ANYMORE!" That doesn't mean that they're all eating over at the Clown's House of Flaming Oil.
I love Cajun food but it's not what one thinks about when we think about American cuisine.

Same reason they think that all English food is offal pudding, French food is frog's legs, etc. Lack of education and open-mindedness.

"I love Cajun food but it's not what one thinks about when we think about American cuisine." I'm from the South, and, honestly, it's one of the most "American" as far as I'm concerned. It's fairly common in this region, even outside of Louisiana. But, really, the point is about the great diversity of the food available in the U.S., which is what I meant.
"It's one of the most "American" as far as I'm concerned." Absolutely, but I'm not sure the world is as familiar with it as they are say fast food.
