I went to the barber with my boyfriend and watched closely at the way the barber cut his hair. Then he bought a set a Wahl clippers. He asked me to us the clippers and cut his hair like the barber did.
He is happy with the way I do it and he buys me stuff.

I have a friend who is a trained hairdresser who does my hair for free, I just buy the colours myself, because my hair is is complex to do (two colours, red and black) it would cost about £60 just to have the colours touched up, in return, I do all her beauty treatments free of charge, so there's my cost.
last time I got it cut, it was at walmart.
they charge 16 dollars, and I insist on a shampoo before AND after a cut.
in exchange I do give a decent tip, often $25 total, so $9 tip.
I would go to a barber shop, but I don't see any around plus ones I do see, charge way too much.

I keep my hair kind of long and so only get it cut about twice a year.

My cut itself is only $10, and I give my barber the three dollar tip. (He charges all of his other clients $17 - I get the discount because I've been with him for 22 years now.)
