INCREASING NUMBERS OF SCAM EMAILS...

[+] serious ballot by wildcard
ACTIVE Thu Feb 12, 09 - Fri Feb 12, 10

I've noticed recently there seems to be an increasing number of scam emails coming through my mail accounts, particularly the classic "Nigerian scams" from Africa.

It's pretty much the same formula every time with the usual concoction of laughable illiterate nonsense promising ridiculous sums of money as soon as you hand over your bank account No.s.

I never used to get any of these, but now they seem to be coming through thick and fast, almost a daily occurrence.

Anyone else notice this?

I haven't noticed an increase, but I hardly use the email address that I get those in. And I seldom check the junk box of the email address that I use mostly.

I would respond to the Nigerian scammers. I'd act like I'm taking them seriously, but with some crazy twist. It's hilarious to see their replies sometimes because they take you seriously.

I haven't noticed an increase. I've had the same email addy for a number of years and can get up to 400 spams a day. I use Thunderbird for email and they go into a special folder. Once a day I'll look through it to make sure nothing important got sent there by mistake and then I delete all the spam unread. I have no idea what most of it is about.

I've been getting them through my Inbox.
Both my yahoo account and personal addy, which only a few people have.

Also been getting those stupid Lottery prize winning scam mails as well.

I usually reply, telling them I'm forwarding it to my boss at the FBI.

And I keep a similar scam e-mail, which I promptly forward to the sender.
