Seeing grieving family members and friends is akin to jury tampering, IMO. And as for Ms Grace... there's no way in Heck that Casey Anthony gets a fair trial anywhere in the U.S., after her hyper-biased coverage of this trial. Same for Jane Velz-Mitchell and the Sandra Cantu murder.
^ I know, I couldn't believe some of the things she was saying, I think she would make a good dictator, if there is such a thing as a GOOD dictator
^ Exactly. Her way or the highway.

Nope, unless they were a witness to the crime. They could bias the verdict, the verdict which should be based on the facts of the incident and not the raw emotions of those affected by it. I do believe however that the family of the victims should be allowed to make an appearance before the judge before the sentencing, providing the accused is found guilty, same for parole hearings.

i don't watch news of this nature because it is just depressing, so i'm not familiar with the case. i believe families can influence jurors. however, people have a right to face their attacker, in the event of murder the family is left to face the attacker. honestly the family has the right to be there so its really up to the jurors not to buy into the drama and make decisions solely on the evidence. and really the only time the family should be acknowledged and heard is if and when there is a sentencing hearing.
ok i had to look nancy grace up after reading this ballot and i remember her now....what an ignorant insensitive bitch!

Ideally, there should be no room for emotion when determining someone's guilt or innocence. Though there could be room for it in certain civil suits or maybe perhaps in sentencing, like Mr_Spleen said. As for as Nancy Grace... I've heard the name, but I honestly don't know who the hell she is. I just don't pay much attention at all to big television media. Except local news. Gotta know what the weather's gonna do.
Voted : It shouldn't be their focus
It's a part of certain trials but I would hope that's not a factor in their decision process, I read about heinous crimes I'm affected but if I'm in the jury box the reason I'm there is because I'm neutral and not someone who should be recused...
MrsTeague, I can understand part of what shaped her, losing her husband as she did. I suffered the same loss when my fiancee was murdered 25 years ago.
^ I didn't know about her husband, what happened?
^ larry, I'm sorry for misstating. It was her college fiance, not her husband. He was shot to death by a co-worker in 1979. She's caught grief for it, because she changed the story, to make it seem as though his murder was by a complete stranger.
