I remember one of the users long gone from this site said he worried about democracy in middle east and Muslim countries in general because porn shops would be opening in those nations.
Well, for a nation to truly be free, the liberty to produce such expression needs to be available for anyone and everyone. If not than the said country does not truly have freedom of expression, which deprives the country of the most basic freedom of all.
To be free yes it is necessary, to be a democracy no.

personal freedom is essential in true democracy.
that means the majority don't have the right to invade the bedroom and minds of the citizens.

I'm not for porn but it's closely tied to first amendment issues. I wouldnt curtail someone's freedom of expression unless it advocated violence or harm against someone. Now if it involves children I'd cut their balls off.
