I wouldn't hold the children accountable for the sins of their fathers and mothers...
I saw a lot of those photos when I was transcribing information for the geneology sites. It was sickening to look at. How those people could take their children to see it, is beyond me. It makes me wonder how the children grew up... hating blacks or feeling sorry for them? As far as bringing these people to justice, I agree, they should be brought to justice. The adults, not the children. But then again, most of those adults are probably dead by now. Here's another question... Who should be brought to justice: those who watched it happen and did nothing, or just those who actually put the rope around the person's neck? From what I've read about lynchings, this wasn't exactly illegal in some of those small southern towns.
Voted : no, let them get away with murder
I don't think you can hold an entire mob culpable for a lynching. Surely there were one or two that bound the man and lit the flames, but just as surely there were a desensitized many only there for the spectacle of it all.
Have you ever read the story about Emmett Till, the 14 year old boy lynched in Mississippi? He was visiting from Chicago and was lynched for whistling at a white woman. Sad story.
When I was transcribing information to the genealogy sites, I was focused on lynchings at one point and transcribing every little bit of info I could find, in hopes of helping others with their genealogy research. Some of the decendants of these lynchings victims contacted me afterwards, grateful to have the info. I was also contacted by a few who never knew about their great grandfather or great uncle being lynched, saying that it was a family secret that nobody talked about. Now on the other side of the coin, I also transcribed info to the genealogy sites on those white men who were involved in the lynchings. Is that fair?

It seems hard to imagine from where I'm standing that this happened within living memory. Yet here you are with a coloured president. This makes 2 thoughts spring to mind. Is america really ready for a black president and if not what will be the repercussions if he is stripped of his powers. This could well set the freedom movement backwards rather than forwards as seemed to be the case when he was voted in. A bit of the point but its something patch said on another ballot about how the press have hounded each president like this in the 40's 50's etc. I think there is a difference this time. this time racism is on the scene. they should be brought to justice even if its posthmously because if not the childer of these people become the racists of today. Can anyone disagree with me on this?
posthumous murder trial... has this ever been done? what would be the point?

could be quite therapeutic for the white, liberal self-flagellationists to dig em up and beat them to death(again)with their shovels. :o)
pope formescu ( pope from 1891-1896) He was even dug up clad in papal robes and faced charges read by john viii. they then mutilated his hands and threw him in the tiber. well you did ask :-)

As you said, and as it should be, there is no statute of limitations on murder. Should surviving NAZI Party War Criminals be excused?
