I was brought up in a tenement in NYC until I was nine years old and then we moved to Las Vegas. By remembering a major landmark across the street from out tenement, I found my neighborhood on Google maps and I was able to find stereo views of the street. Boy, did it bring back memories. In fact, the tree that grew across the street, and which is still there, is the tree I envision when I write of trees in my poetry. I sent the URL to my sister and it brought back to her a flood of memories too. In a link that popped up was the news that the tenement we lived in had just been broken into and burglarized. Good old Brooklyn! Are any of you nostalgic about your old homes or neighborhoods?

I am nostalgic about the place but I would not want to live there
I would want to live there
I hope I never see it or think of it again
I still live in my family's ancestral home

I own the house I was brought up in but rent it out. When it came up for sale I couldn't resist buying it, for the reasons you mention, but I wouldn't want to live there.

no, I had the chance but couldn't, I would like to be able to take my kids there someday so they can see where I lived as a child.

Maybe a visit to some of them. I was an Air Force brat until I was 12 and lived in whole lot of different places though. Some nice, and some not so nice.

Most of my childhood was spent in Lafayette, Indiana. I feel no attachment to the place anymore as I absolutely LOVE Minnesota. A few years ago after having been gone from Indy for about 7 or 8 years, I did go back to visit my brother and we went through the old neighborhood and saw the old house. Many of the few things I remembered positively had changed. Old basketball hoop was gone, favorite neighbor was gone, favorite fishing creek had been overrun by rough fish.

I think my best childhood memories are all at my grandparents house in Wisconsin where I used to spend my summers. I wouldn't mind living out there by all the family some day.

no, not that it was bad, but last I checked, it turned into a high rise complex and a stadium...
