Ask anyone you trust, where they bring their vehicle. If the service station is very busy... That usually means that the customers trust them. Just as if another station always seams to have no customers, well you get the idea.

If I need anything done, I go to the same place that I buy my new tires from. They did an oil change for me, and apparently they do other mechanical work there.

Best way is to ask around and get some opinions. Just ask anyone. Strike up a conversation with somebody. Tell 'em you're new around and are looking for a good mechanic. Ask a long time local, someone who looks like they might know a thing or two about the mechanics around.

Look at the cars in the parking lot too. A lot of trucks and work type vehicles is a good sign. So are local cars or city vehicles. And don't let the building fool you. The place I go to have my front end worked on looks like a rat hole. But the guy is so good and stays so busy that you have to call and make an appointment to have most anything done.
