I totally disagree. In the more Muslim dominated societies, women are degraded and subjugated. They have just as much violence against women...they just justify it by calling it an honor killing or "female circumcision."
Even the choice "No, we give our women the freedom to do as they please" is questionable. :) We don't "give" "our women" anything. Women are equal, plain and simple.
I probably should have worded it differently, women have right to do as they please would have been better. :)

I agree wholeheartedly with what patch22us said.
Muslims aren't as culturally evolved as the rest of the world. It's an inevitability that they will catch up, but at the time being no "we" in the west don't, as a whole at least. Of course there will always be sexists like bigots and other intolerant people, but we have established a culture in which there is no sex-divide, merely human beings.
And another point is the muslims refer to "women in their country" for example. They see all other women as "whores" just because their lifestyles do not coincide with their own.
