A cult of personality is a cult all the same, just like islam and christianity. Atheism promotes legal rational authority, not charismatic authority. Therefore Stalin, Pol Pot, Zedong, Mussolini, etc. aren't really valid examples.
Interestingly, after he was imprisoned at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Wisconsin, Dahmer became a born-again Christian. So I have to question the veracity of his atheism, I also highly doubt he murdered people in the name of atheism as christians do christianity and muslims islam on a daily basis.
And I view a Kinsey as positive historical figure, his potential limited by the nescience of his times and in addition, his work wasn't married to his faith, or lack there of.
