Disappearing is not a realistic option. You have to really think about it.
Actually, you could disappear. If a certain condition in the past is changed, then all of the events which are dependant on this condition which have occurred since that moment in the past are eliminated.
You would have existed to build the time machine up until the point where you kill your grandfather. After killing your grandfather, you and your time machine would disappear, along with anything else you created in your life.
So you can't disappear, cause you never would've existed in the first place. If you are successful in killing your grandfather, you create a tangent universe, otherwise its not possible for you to kill him,or you already would have.
dude, did you watch futurama last night? haha it was funny. fry went back in time and accidentally killed his grandfather; the year was 1947 so fry had sex with his grandmother when she was the age of about 18!! hence making fry himself making him his grandfather.
We are all predestined to be here. we'd either have the same parents or have other parents. God puts us with who he wishes. Hope this helps.
I'm sorry, Gayman, that's predestiny shit. Was hoping for something a little more realistic, even in a ballot about time travel.
You can't travel back in time like that, so don't worry about it.
Wow, really, perfect circle? You should call all the physicists and tell them to stop wasting their time. Time travel to the future is known to be possible. Time travel to the past is still being debated, though most believe it is a project for future civilizations.
You can't actually travel back in time in your universe of origin. The very act of time travel is a change and you actually go back in time in a parallel universe identical to your own, except for the fact that you time traveled. Every thing you do from then on out causes you to shift gradually to other universes as you change the timeline. At that point the only way to return to your universe of origin is by 5-d travel back to your universe of origin to the exact and I mean the exact time increment that you left from. You must modify your bodies energy frequency to match your universe of origins and shift yourself back into phase with it, and at the same time you must make sure your aligned with the exact moment you left. Once you travel through time it may be impossible to return to your universe of origin. You can never change your original universe or your life in your memories so just enjoy traveling through time and alternate universe.
Nothing will happen, because one of 2 reasons: 1) the "consistent histories approach". even if space-time is warped so that it would be possible to travel into the past, what happens in space-time must be consistent with the laws of physics. According to this, you could not go back in time unless history showed that you had already arrived in the past and had not killed your grandfather while being there. Moreover, you wouldn't be able to change recorded history - no free will.(Humans have free will because we can't predict what they'll do) For example, if a man goes off in a rocket ship and comes back before he set off, we will be able to predict what he will do because it will be a part of recorded history. 2) the "alternate histories hypothesis". when time-travelers go back in time, they enter alternate histories which differ from recorded history. because each thing you do in life could have been done differently, with different consequences to each side. So, you could kill your grandfather over and over, but that's not recorded history, that's the alternate universe that was created by you, and it will not affect our universe in the slightest bit.
Pretty much what Universal_President said. Didn't you watch "Sliders"?
