I don't hate America, just its president
I believe that they are utterly brainwashed by leftist university instructors, who are often of a Marxist or anticapitalist or anti-Western bent to start, and who make use of textbooks and supplementary readings that reinforce their own left-wing viewpoints that depict all American and Western culture as inherently racist and evil, without bothering to turn an equal, unbiased microscope upon non-Western cultures or countries outside the United States. In the process, they mock and burn in effigy the very Enlightenment thinkers, authors, and politicians who made their free inquiry, mostly divorced from state meddling, possible and on one of its progeny, the First Amendment. If you look at the ages of most of the IMF protestors or the street protesting Workers World Party types, they are probably 80% college age and tend to have come mainly from places like Berkeley, "activist" centers (i.e., anti-Western/anti-U.S. indoctrination camps).

Because the US apparently is a democracy. People are supposed to be against their government and hate it when they don't agree with it.
I don't like America because we have the money and resources to feed the whole world, but we don't because we won't make any money off it. America is all about money.

Of course, if there's such a thing as free speech, it must also have constitutional limits. For example, speech that calls for active, immediate incitation of violence against minorities is not protected by the courts. More to the point, neither's treasonous speech--direct calls for the immediate overthrow of the United States government or assassination of political leaders. One can fairly criticize American political leaders and express views that they should be removed from office by legal process. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but, when you have the Move On/ANSWER crowd comparing the President to Hitler and composing ads with strings of obscenities or even claim there's been a coup and the government's "illegitimate," they should be given zero protection by the courts.
When idiot adolescents have been actuvely indoctrinated to have no civic pride and nothing but contempt for their own country, one can expect nothing but dire results for the future. While it *is* the duty of a citizen to be actively engaged in the political process and be *critical* publicly of policies with which they disagree, that does NOT equate into the idea that they should loathe that same government as an institution.
Oh, and for your information, the United States is a constitutional republic, NOT a "democracy." Geez, didn't you *ever* take a civics course in high school?

I'm actually more of a Libertarian, but I hate commies & their sympathizers with a passion. Their ideas failed all over the planet, murdered 100 million victims, and only in U.S. and European universities can they find a home and a stipend instead of becoming stinking toothless street tramps.

Basically many educated and cultured Americans are frightened by the ignorant, inbred, southern/midwestern tribulationist Bush worshiping yokels. America has it's own Al Queada, they are called christian conservatives. They want nothing more than to bring about a global war because they think there will be a "rapture" afterwards. I think the previous contributor is trying to say that you Americans lack knowledge of the rest of the world, yet you have a dogmatic belief that the US *must* be better than other nations in all respects (this poll & its options is a good example of this conceit).

I love America that's why I want it to be the place it's supposed to be that everyone likes to think it is. I want to end intolerance and want it to have all the freedom it is supposed to have. I don't like knowing my country is guilty of crooked and evil actions in foreign countries.
This is a great country but so many people here are fucked up. Their views towards other people is shameful and needs to be changed. If you love America and want to make it better you will stay and work for it rather than run to another country.

Hating America doesn't mean these people will like other countries any better. They might as well stay and try to make the best of their lives.
