No it is not impossible.
Religion is constantly becoming a thing of the past. Religion is dogmatic and stagnant. Nothing religious changes over time, in fact any attempt at change is considered blasphemous and is strongly challenged. The result is our present-day mix of religions that are all 2000+-year-old myths. The beauty of science is that no claim goes unchallenged. Every claim made is examined, tested and independently verified or shown to be flawed. Think about how this differs from religious belief. No religious claim can withstand such scrutiny. This is why religions rely on faith.
Since the Renascence the scientific method has pushed religious belief into a smaller and smaller corner. Today religion is standing on its tiptoes, desperately clinging to what it can. I predict that in 500 to 1000 years Christianity will be a dead religion, similar to Greek and Roman mythology. Science will prevail. Unless we all decide to go back to living caves, we will always seek the benefits science has to offer.
Hmmm, pretty confident. And only 500 to 1000 years you say? What new discovery do you see happening, when thousands of years worth of discoveries have not killed belief? That was smart of you to at least put your timeline well past our life spans.
Well, think of how far we have come in the last thousand years. We've disproven half of religion since then, so to speak. In another thousand the other half will be disproven... Although the existence of *some* supreme being can never be know...

I don't think your entirely correct. Even if God does not exist and there is something to disprove, there is no way it will be done fast enough to change people's minds. Most religous people have changed with scientific discoveries, and amended them with God included. This will continue. There will always be unanswered questions, and God will be the solution. Humans have always had a God and they always will.

That's what I imagine will happen when there's not too many questions left to explain away. Yeah, answers only bring up more questions, but sooner or later I imagine people will realize that the answers lie in science not superstition...

If only that were true. Unfortunately, I've spent enough time arguing with fundies to know that no matter how much evidence you show them, they'll never abandon their cherished superstition. They just close their eyes, stick their fingers in their ears and shout "I can't hear you!" at the top of their lungs.

Christianity is a myth. Just like the Greek, Roman and Egyptian belief systems where myths. They lasted for several thousand years so I'm guessing Christianity will to. The only reason why you think it will be around forever is because you believe in it. Fortuantely, I'm not hindered by this bias.

Muslim, or Jewish etc)" he created us and gave us the world and life. we arent Christain or Jewsih or Muslim. we are human beings: the children of God.
People will always need to believe in a higher power controlling their lives. Takes the responsibility off of them for the most part and allows them the belief that death is not the end.
My comments are not said with hate but rather sadness that the after life I was raised to believe in is really no more than what the Romans had. It was a safe, comforting feeling to know you would see your family in the afterlife. It's a lonely feeling when you finally realize it's all about as factual as Santa Claus and his reindeer
