COMMENTS:
consciousness is neither. It was before you were born, and it will still be after you die.
I posted this ballot in congruence with my ballot on the obsolescence of religion. The atheists won, and I'm curious about the moral consequence of the loss of faith in God. *that's conscience gapinghole, not consciousness.
I was not talking about religion. There are two "essences" that define what is "you". One is what you call "consciousness" and it is immortal & omnipotent. The other is called "conscience" and it is the part that associates & identifies with the outside world.
I'd say it is largely intuition, in congress with one's environment.
Your consciousness is your intuition, applerod! Its ok you did not know this. I probably just read more books on the subject than you. Don't feel bad about it. alright?
Acutally, I feel pretty good about what you just said. :)
That's not the question, gapinghole. This has nothing to do with immortality or omnipotence.
Voted : Learned reflex
I believe that conscience is a learned modification of fear. We internalize fear of reprisal to keep it with us, to frighten and shame ourselves. Fear is an instinct; conscience is learned.
