i think a lot of it is about context.people freak out when something unexpected happens(you know what i'm talking about--super bowl)because oh sh!t, now i'm gonna have to explain it to the kids.i never understood why adults make such a big deal out of that, anyway.
i think the thing with janet jackson is that no one really knew than if it was planned or not.did he just rip her bra of without her knowledge?how would she feel about that?it's a good opportunity to talk about that kind of thing though.on the other hand, if there were commercials for soap or whatever, would that be a big deal here?it's not overtly sexual, or even sexual at all, but americans seem to hang on to this puritanical idea that our bodies are to be hidden away.it's really, really unnatural and strange, but what can you do?:)
