I used to do this all the time when I was a kid. I would be sleeping but be aware that I was floating above my body and able to see what was going on in the room. Later, I did it once as a teenager and it was HORRIBLY frightening. After that, I always slept with at least a sheet even in hot weather. It just makes me feel more secure
