I dig old gutter punk than this new emo punk crap. But I do dig some old metal from the 80's Iron maiden and judas priest.
Heavy Metal is full of talent. Meshuggah, Emperor, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden etc. It's all technical. Punk is good too though, especially Ramones. I like some hip-hop.

metal is good when there's singing involved. The kind where it sounds like a demon is talking to me and growling is bullshit. That's why most of the time I like the old school metal, even Zeppelin was considered metal at the time and that band is way better than anything today. I don't know if Alice in Chains is considered metal, but if they were, they were the best modern metal band.
I prefer punk.

Back in the 80s and early 90s punk and metal was the virtually the same thing..same fans for both music and crossover bands like DRI, Agnostic Front, Crumbsuckers, COC, Cro-Mags..Now the general thing is that punks and metalhead hate each other and their music. This is completely wrong because most punks and metal heads stand for the same thing, and this division is fucking stupid. We should all unite, Punks, Skins, Headbangers...I grew up listening to anything from Black Flag and the Exploited, to Black Sabbath, Exodus, and Metallica...

I think Metal will forever beat Punk becuz Punk is waaaaaaay more underground and Metal just has a more fast and upbeat sound.
I still like Punk tho: my favorites are The Casualties, The Adicts, Aus Rotten.
