COMMENTS:
I think and fervently hope that all schools will be replaced by online learning and books.

I just read an article about a massive online role-playing game used as a training simulator by the Army. It's not a bad idea for schools: log on and go to your virtual classroom or campus.

No. Technology is playing an increasingly important role in assisting students in their learning, but one of the most fundamental elements, social interaction with other students, would be missing. Yes it's true you can interact with people online, but it's just not the same as relating to people in person, which is where students can effectively develop their interpersonal skills.

Hopefully, in-person interaction will one day be significantly reduced. Occasional interaction with friends or to make new friends is OK, but solitude is freedom.

because public schools now see the folly of the warm fuzzies policy of the past 20 years, and are starting to kick butt again

i recall this fabulous brawl between a well built scottish 3rd grade teacher and a well built Bondi babe mother that went on for about 10 minutes. With a bit more of that they might be here to stay.
