Welfare does get abussed but ive been on it before its barley enough money to get by.glad we have some social assistance here because its hard to get on your feet sometimes when you lose your job.
Remember all you regular folk (like me) Kerry has promised to raise taxes on you in the first 100 days of office. That will not effect him. In case you didn't know, Kerry is worth over 10 million dollars and has 12 different houses (mansion). He is just like all those other "Limousine Liberals" out there. Talk the good talk to the lower class to get the vote, knowing it will take away for the working middle class (you and me), and won't effect he and the fat cats in Government or the Movie Moguals. At least Bush gave me some of my tax money back!

I certainly don't agree with welfare being away of life, rather than a new beginning. I believe that obesity is a choice for most people, and think it's ridiculous that people use it as a crutch for free money. I really believe, that of our Presidential candidates that Kerry is the most in tune to the public and especially the younger generation. Most of his money came from marriage. You have to give the man credit for his ice hockey, snow boarding and MTV... Very few candidates would ever be subjected to that for fear of miserably failing to communicate with popular culture.

If you make minimum wage your still going to loose the money anyway because you wont be able to make overtime if Bush gets re-elected. What's really worse being able to have college loans exempt after seven years or being drafted into war ( believe me that's going to happen ) The war is draining the economy anyways and Im on 19 and work as a hotel front desk clerk while going to school . Which I pay for without a grant I need to make overtime . Anyways you can only get welfare for two year and only about $ 200 at max . Most money goes to disable people and foster parents . Even if obesity is considered a desease it still will be hard for them to get Social Security benefits you have to be half dead to get assistance based on that . My uncle go hit by a car and had pins in his back wore the weirdest looking contraption I've ever seen and still wasn't qualified for Social Security .

vanman makes a key and regularly ignored point: Welfare is only a thousand or two a year! Why do so many of you have attacks of hysteria about it? Do you think that Welfare recipients are pulling down $20-30K salaries or something?
