Civil war. One million dead, family members fighting on diff. sides. This war severely tested whether the US, which at that time was the world's only demacracy " long endure".
corection...one of the world's FEW democracies
What do you mean by worst? Are you talking of losses, loss of a war, civilian dissent?
Civil War, for any country.
Another correction is needed popeNYC. Blacks never got the vote until around 1870, women until 1920. Look to Finland and 1906 before the world had what we would call today a democracy. As to the worst US war, aren't they all bad? Thousands, if you're very lucky, or hundreds of thousands of innocent men, woman and children killed or maimed.
the worst, as in the most unjust, corrupt war... ??? that would have to be the invasion of Iraq. As far as the worst in horrific casualties, the civil war takes that prize.
you mean they won one?? when???
oh yeah when they beat themselves hahaha the only one they were certain of winning
American Boy, many countries have suffered worse wars. However, the worst war the US ever experienced was the Civil War. Heres a list of all the Major Wars the US fought, and Casulaties(combat deaths only, or deaths realted to combat): Revolutionary war: 4400+ War of 1812: 2000+ Mexican War: 1700+ Civil War: 620,000+ Spanish American War:385 World War 1:53,000+ World War 2: 290,000+ Korean War:33,000+ Vietnam War:47,000+ Gulf War: 148 by Guest_0edfa on Jun 21, 2004 Amazing that the criteria by which you select 'Americas worst war' are the casualties suffered by the American military. The mass devestation left in your wake (Vietnam) is a minor issue I suppose.
