A graduate of Yale University, I entered the Navy after graduation, becoming a Swift Boat officer, serving on a gunboat in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. I received a Silver Star, Bronze Star with Combat V, and three awards of the Purple Heart for my service in combat.
And on the back of the purple heart there is an engraving that says "FLIP FLOP YOUR WAY TO THE TOP"!

In Viet Nam, on the front lines, John Kerry was asked to deliver a message from his platoon leader back to base camp on foot. The message was to ask for more ammunition and food rations, as the men were getting extremely low. Kerry grabbed his gear and set out.
Along the way he heard an explosion and he dove into the jungle for cover. Hearing a lot of footsteps around his perimeter, Kerry was forced to lie low for two days. Eventually he felt safe enough to peek through the underbrush. That's when he discovered the footsteps he had been hearing were only the footsteps of a herd of water buffalo.
Kerry gathered his wits about him and set out once again for base camp. He immediately noticed a dead water buffalo next to a small crator. He realized that the explosion he had heard two days ago must have simply been from the water buffalo stepping on a landmine.
A few hours later Kerry ran into his platoon. It turns out that Kerry had walked in a circle and ended up back at the front line. His commanding officer and the rest of the platoon were furious.
When Kerry regained consciousness, he was back at base camp. He was very sore all over and couldn't understand why he had a broken arm, a fat lip and a black eye. Then he also noticed he had a Purple Heart pinned to his arm sling.
Except that he did serve his time, and was honorably discharged. Which makes your argument utter nonsense.

The man spent 4 and 1/2 months in vietnam and recieved 3 purple hearts. According to his war records, all of his wounds were so minor they did not even recieve major medical attention. In fact, one of his wounds was a splinter sized piece of metal that was lodged UNDER THE SKIN of his arm. According to kerry's leuitenit, he basically awarded himself the purple hearts. Then kerry goes home and turns on his war buddies and calls them killers.
seeing as the heroic US army gives out more Medals than ration packs, i dont see how anyone can rate Kerry on on his Vietnam medals.
US soldiers get a medal for being wounded? what the hell is all that about? the US army is far too liberal with its giving of medals: did you know ytou can get a medal for simply being in an army unit for 30 consecutive days, not necessarily in combat? that is a joke. medals have ceased to mean anything, so i dont see what all the fuss over Kerry's Purple heart is all about.

Why would Kerry fake the purple heart at that time anyway? Its not like he has psychic powers and could see into the future that he would be running for some high governmental positions and those medals could look very good on his resume.
As for the fake gun shot wound question, republicans believe that he used magic marker/crayon, ketchup, tape, and a bullet to fake the wound. First he would draw on his body with the magic markers and the crayons an open wound. Then he would cut the bullet a little and warp the shape to show that it was actually fired. Then he would tape the bullet right on that wound drawing with scotch tape and pour ketchup on that spot to make it look like it was bleeding.
You can't fake a gun wound, at least not back then. :o)
CB, read the descriptions ,ade by the other republicans on this page. It was shrapnel. It was obviously a very small injury. And yet he nominated himself for it, made sure he received it as quickly and quietly as possible, and then brought it out for his presidential race.

To win a purple heart it has to be "A wound which necessitates treatment by a medical officer and which is received in action with an enemy, may in the judgment of the commander authorized to make the award be construed as resulting from a singularly meritorious act of essential service."
The wound he recieved was in fact treated by a medical officer, it was earned because they were sure it was with action with the enemy, republicans believe this not to be the case, but if thats so, why would they give it to him in the first place? And even if he nominated himself, there was some commander that made the authorization.
Why would Kerry go through all that trouble to lie in the first place, and besides he earned other awards that are not considered to be fakes.
Dubya didn't win any heroic awards, so its a waste of time trying to prove Kerry faked one of his awards based on personal opinion. :-)

I don't know what really happened but when over 200 vets who served with Kerry come out saying he's a fraud, I think there should at least be some questioning. They should release Kerry's millitary records. I mean when the media was all over Bush they released Bush's records. I thought Liberals were all about truth. You can't dismiss all 200 of the honorably discharged Vietnam veterans as liars.

There is a flaw in that thesis.. Bush isn't running as a war hero. Kerry is, and if he's really not a war hero that then he has nothing. Most conservatives wouldn't even bring this up if he didn't make his entire convention about his war experience.
Those 200 vets could be lying for many reasons.
1. They could be paid off by a Republican official to lie
2. They are natural republicans and they want their party to win
3. They hold a personal grudge against Kerry and don't want to see him win
4. They don't think Kerry is fit for the presidency
If he actually faked one of these awards, the media would of probably been all over it a while ago, they try to dig up stories from both sides. Right Wing FOX News would love to expose this proof if they had it. But like I said, its all a matter of personal opinion.
That statement does look flawed but if Kerry actually faked ONE purple heart, he still is considered a war hero because of his other awards. Look at ballot 46029. Even if he were to fake that one award, it really wouldn't make a difference in the polls. They really don't have hard evidence to prove if it was a fake, so it has been a waste of time.
Actually Fox news to my surprise, has stayed away from this story along with all the rest of the liberal media (not a surprise). Even Bill O'reilly whom I respect has dismissed this story. Which is not being a good journalist in my view.

FOX news doesn't want to be bothered because they have NO hard evidence to prove this to be true, if they did, then they would be sure to be all over this. If all the right wing journalists are not covering this story to use for the republican advantage, don't you think something has to be wrong about that story.

I highly doubt faking one award out of many would make such a big difference anyway. Everybody who cares about politics pretty much made up their minds by now and it will take a lot to change them. I think whether someone got a purple heart or not is completely irrelevant to whether they can be a good president or not.
Nobody who says he faked it worked "alongside" him. They worked in different boats. Everyone who was on his boat stands behind him 100%, and hey the guy says Kerry saved his life. Yet George Bush simply REFUSES TO DENOUNCE the ads!!! What a crooked, stupid, lying President. God forbid we should elect him for another term.
My brother was in the military during the Gulf War and he recieved some ribbons and stuff. He got these things and he never left Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. Why all the fuss? Kerry was in Vietnam. Bush was not. And if he faked the Purple heart that is a sad testiment to our military for being so easily duped. I'd like to think it is not that easy to fool the U.S. military. Don't forget, Kerry's life was on the line. He was in a conflict zone, while Bush was probably at some keg party in Texas.
And I don't know if Kerry would tell the truth about committed war atrocities and then lie about a purple heart. When was the last time YOU publicy admitted that you cheated on your mate, smoked crack, drove drunk, cheated on your taxes or whatever. I would think you would have to be a pretty honest person to confess these things, let alone publicy in an election year like Kerry has.
