Well, Im not gon argue that in some of those countries specialy Saudi Arabia, they stone people and have redicoulas laws and gender inequality but that deosnt seem to be the case everywhere. You shouldnt realy judge billions of people based on some old video they shot in some remote village and put it on faces of death. I visited turkey on my trip to Europe and they are supposably an islamic majority state but they were in general very openminded people and it was a fun trip. I had some navy friends stationed in the gulf too and they said most of the major cities they visited were highly developed and very modern since they have spend alot of oil money on that. So I wouldnt generalize everyone in this case.
From what I have read about Islam so far it seems to promote ideoligies similar to communism. Everything you do has to be for the good of the state rather than yourself. Very little mentioned about individuality and I believe individuality is kinda seen as a bad thing. That is the main difference in my opinion. The rest of it seems to be very similar to christianity in the concepts about heaven and hell, good and evil, harsh punishments for criminals, theives and murderes. Equality is promoted throughly. It takes a very militant stand though when it comes to protecting the state, religion and wealth of the muslim nations. Basicaly your supposed to defend it at any cost. Overal, most of the concepts are positive in nature but you have to remeber, people interpret religion differently and most dont even follow it properly, similar to philosophy. that's what I've read about it so far.
Yeah. It's easy to get swayed by a shocking piece of propaganda but real life experiences blow propaganda away every time. In Britain at the moment we are hearing from Rupert Murdoch's Sun that Turkey's football fans are going to kill our fans if they go over there on Saturday. They are purposely trying to raise tensions and provoke violence. I believe football hooliganism thrives on press attention.
Hey, you guys wanna see something really cool, check this site out: http://www.answering-christianity.com/iraqi_torture.htm

It shows what's really happening over in the middle east, if you know what I mean.
Well, Turkey is definitely influenced by the west, it's not really an Islamic state at all, even though islam is the main religion, but I'm talking about countries that are bond by Islamic "laws". Where it's considered ok to kill a woman if you suspect she is unfaithful, and public executions are held in soccer stadiums. These aren't some freak occurences that are caught on video, they are normal daily events.
Well, I'm glad to see people such a logical response that obviously came from an intelligent person!!! I'm not tryin to say there are no religios fenatics there or that they dont live with restrict laws. All I'm saying is dont generalize. Your bringin up the worst examples possible and yes I do see a parrale between some of them and europe in the middle ages. It's not everyone by any means. Infact most of the people I met from the middle east are normal people and they dont practice religion much. It's a very large region with alot of people. Were not talking about just a couple of countries here.
Unlimited....I saw that page. It's horrific. I already saw an independant movie done on depleted Uranium used by the U.S. It answers questions about the whole GULF WAR SYNDROME also that alot of our soldiers were suffering from. The government doesnt even spare it's own people. I'm American, but one that is ashamed of my government!
I live in a mulslim country, i think our government is mental seek!
The Gulf states (Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Oman) are pretty wealthy and modern. Not exactly democratic, but I could live in one of those places.
Yes, except theres no castles or kings but they still oppress women and stuff.
