Corporations are accountable to their share holders, to make as much profit as possible. But should they also be accountable to their employees, and to their customers, and to society at large - in terms of honest accounting, in terms of sustainable development, in terms of ethical treatment of the environment, third world economies, child labour and animal rights?

YES, they should answer to the stockholders no matter who they are. employees should be respected and limits should be placed on the executives.

i believe we are close to a nation-wde movement to reform corporations.

just wait 10-20 years.

An interesting proposition ... are corporations answerable only to shareholders, or should there be a societal/ civic expectation ...? Sort of cuts to the essence of the matter, doesn't it!?
