Nomination Procedures Johnny Grant, Chairman of the Walk of Fame Committee, presents the plaque to Jack Nicholson.
Nominations are accepted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce during a scheduled 60-day nomination period announced to Hollywood's entertainment trade publications and print and broadcast media.
Nomination of an individual or group must be approved by the Walk of Fame Committee, sometimes requiring several annual nominations before a nominee is selected to receive a star. The ten to fifteen most qualified artists nominated are eligible for a star to be installed in the Walk during the subsequent year. Those not selected for the current year are requested to resubmit for the following nomination period.
The criteria for receiving a star consists of the following: professional achievement, longevity of five years or more, contributions to the community and the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected. Posthumous awards require a five year waiting period. After the Walk of Fame Committee has made its selections, the Chamber's Board of Directors also vote to approve the star and then, for a final vote, the names are submitted to the City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works Department.
Hollywood citizens and tourists alike look forward to each dedication ceremony with eager anticipation.

I totally don't agree. He's done many other parts besides Data, and did them VERY well. He is NOT just a one-dimensional actor, that is for sure. He's done a lot of non-Trek/non-Sci-Fi shows, movies, and TV programs, not to mention being on Broadway many times as well. It is just that many people only think of Data when they hear his name, and that is understandable, since he did play that part for over 7 years on TV, then did 4 Trek movies as well. Try viewing some of these movies, then come back and tell me again that he is a one-dimensional actor! "Phenomenon," "Independence Day," "Master of Disguise," "Out to Sea," "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge," "A Girl Thing," and "Geppetto," "Dating Service," "I Am Sam," just to name a few. The many hours of make-up he had to go through, not to mention the 16 to 18 hour work days, and learning complex lines. Do you also know that he donates to a lot of good causes, and goes to many different benefits to raise money for these causes? Alright Lavette I changed my mind he is ok, But still doesn't deserve a star. There are too many other actors out their that in my opinion deserve it more. And you say that he has been on other projects, but he never stood out in those roles, compared to his long running data role.
That's totally cool, mrtoady, we all have our differing opinions. I totally agree that there are many other actors out there that deserve the Star, yes indeed. But there are some that have gotten it, that really didn't deserve it, in my opinion. Even if Brent only played Data, and did no other role or been on Broadway, I still think he should get a Star just for that. Since 'Data' is a bit of an icon now, and Brent worked his butt off playing that character for 7 years on the TV show, then doing 4 more movies as 'Data.' Ok, I better hush, I don't want to get too long winded again...LOL.
Hey, Jessica, I haven't been to a convention since 2000. LOL And there is no way I'd fly all the way out to California just to see him. LOL All the cons I went to were close by me, and I drove to them. LOL And I have only seen him once at a convention, in the 15 years I have been an admirer. LOL
Who's 'doing the con -Slanted Fedora? Creation Con?, I've looked at many cons & have never seen Brent's name mentioned - he must've decided recently or I've been looking in the wrong places, can U give us any more information Jessica?

Ok, let's see, where do I start with all of you creatures that have recently crawled out of the depths of hell to annoy me?
First off, I noticed that all of you are not registered on the Best and Worst site, and not using your real names. Wow, that is just a laugh in and of itself. Shows how loud and tough you are hiding under screen names, and smearing someone's name all over. Such cowards indeed. I wonder how tough you'd all be if you had to face me, and say all of this.
Don't think that I don't realize for an instant who most of you probably are. Let's see, how about Racheal Lessick, Kristie Baker, Mildred Wychoff (or Mil, as she calls herself), Dawn and Donna Macey, and since I read one post about Ashley, I assume that Tammy and her husband are in on this too, or maybe some of their friends. Hmmm, who else...oh yes, Miranda Sparks, since she is the only one that had the guts to say her name on here.
Not to mention all of the many little trained minions who serve and bow to the ever popular "menaces of the Internet"....The Macey Twins. The only reason you all kiss those two's asses is to keep in good with them. Well, for all I am concerned, you can all just keep crawling up their asses, and while your up there, save their doctor time, and check for pollops will you? LOL
If I am wrong about the names I have mentioned, ok, I am sorry, but I doubt I am about most of the names I have mentioned above. Oh, and it is a total joke too, that the same people could be posting over and over, but just using different screen names, which is beyond stupid. Like you all thought I wouldn't figure that one out. So really it is not as many people as it seems that are posting this sick garbage. Just the same ones, changing screen names, and posting as if they are someone else. Believe me, I know it happens, since the Macey Twins used about 15 different screen names between to the two of them, in order to harrass me for a couple years or more. I'd block one name, and they'd make up a new one to get around the block.
Haven't any of you got anything better to do, than try to rip a person apart, destroy, and defame them on the internet? One said it was pissing rain out, and that is why she was on the internet defaming me for fun. What? You can't pick a good book to read? Or sew something? Work on a craft? Or spend time with friends? You know, I have read that people that do such things as this, have issues in their own lives that they have not dealt with or fears that they never confronted. I am betting most of you were probably bullies in school, so of course you grew up to be adult bullies. You just weren't taught any better. So sad indeed. I have to wonder what you all look like and what you all have done with your lives to make you all so superior to me in your moral surtitudes.

Another joke I am laughing about, is that I am sure those of you that get a hold of pics of me, definitely re-do them in a computer program in order to make me look like a real freak, then send them out to others. How sick and low can you get than that?
Yes, I did write erotic stories, but I will not apologize for that. I sent them to former friends that I thought I could trust, but of course as you can see, I shouldn't have trusted them as far as I could have thrown them. Who knows how much has been added to those stories, to make them completely sick and disgusting. I can only imagine. Again, really pathetic indeed. I never claimed to be a professional writer either, and I haven't written a story in months. I know that Mil Wychoff is the one that passed the stories around, and who knows what she added to the stories before she passed them on, and what was added by others as they received them. I have the original stories, so I have no worries, believe me.
Oh, and that one idiot that said my website was one of the worst ones on the net, well, I'd love to see what kind of website or websites this person has up on the web. Or if this person even knows the first thing on how to construct a website in the first place? I highly doubt it. So lay off on judging my website, and go make one of your own...let's see, how about you make one of your own, then call it, "I am an internet idiot, let me count the ways." I am sure it would get many hits.
As for the one that made fun of my "LOL's" that I use, oh that is a real hoot, since the reason I use them, is because I am truely laughing at you all. Don't you all get it, that you are not bothering me in the least? I still have my forum up, and my websites, that I keep updated, so you are not destroying me or my sites now or anytime in the future. So really, what is the goal you all have, in doing this to me? Like I have said before, I know what I am and who I am, and so do my true friends, my family, and most of all God. And He is the only one I will have to answer to when I die. No, I am not in any way perfect, that is for sure, but I know that I will have no fear of facing Him when the time comes. But I wonder how many of you can say the same thing. And for your information I have been corresponding with Dawn Macey for awhile now and she happens to be the kindest and sweetest person out here in net world. As I explained in earlier email, it is almost impossible to take down a poll on this site. I find it ironic that you are threatening ME to take my whole site down, when YOU are the one who invited the type of comments by having links to my site from yours. If you didn't, your friends/enemies would have never found this site. What makes you think that you have the right to delete someone elses posts? Don't you think I am getting multiple requests NOT to take this poll down? and invite similar threats if I do take down their comments?
I have already isolated your ballot, and if you like, I can further expire the ballot, but I am not about to scan through or create broken links on 15000+ static pages because you have issues about what ohters may have posted about you. Honestly, why are you picking on me, when there is other sites with same or worse things said about you? (yes, I have looked)
In short, LaVette, you do not own the internet, and you have no right to threaten me to take down stuff from my site just because it suits you. You knew the nature of the site as you are not a newbie (you contacted me earlier about making this site more family friendly). If you don't want the type of bashing occuring here i suggest the following:
1. take down the link to my site from your site - that's how people find out about this site. they are coming from your links.
2. create your own discussion on YOUR site, so your fans can post messages there. Then you can delete whatever you don't like.

Maybe you should tone down a bit with the brent spiner thing....people will get creeped out(and probably the man himself) if you talk about him 24/7...
It's okay to do up a website about him - other people do so you're not the only one.
As for those stories that these people are giving you shit about, you should keep them to yourself and never share them not even your dearest friends. You don't want to scare them off like that! Photos?? haven't seen what you look like but alterations with pictures can happen!!

Have to say I agree on this one. LaVette is dangerous and insane where they and Brent Spiner are concerned. LaVette is a possible stalker if she was to meet Mr Spiner she lives and breathes him to no end and although everyone knows it she does not.
LaVette has caused havoc and trouble for the wrong people and the wrong reasons, if they have made her get her life hell as she claims by giving her 'just desserts' then good because she is capable of falsifying numerous IDs on other boards to throw her spit.
The latest is that she and Brent Spiner are friends and somehow I fail to see the connection between the pair. I do not think he would be interested in an introvert who spends her days sewing ugly ornaments and blankets, I would think he have more intelligence but not according to LaVette who thinks nothing of abusing and insulting the guys intelligence.
