COMMENTS:
Let me guess, because God doesn't belong in government? Sure, and while we're at it let's take off the words Federal Reserve. We all know it's privately owned. Don't stop there, go ahead and take off the portraits of the founding fathers. Since they signed docs "In the year of out Lord" and had "The power vested by God". This was a ridiculous answer to a ridiculous question. The poll question should be. Why are people so worried about The Words God, on anything. I think it's funny. These people that want God off of this, God off of that. They are from the same group of people that promote Freedom of Speech,Choice,Expression. I guess that's only for people that speak, choose, and express how they feel. Such Hipocracy I'll pray for you tonight Zorra.

"-And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." Zorra, whether you like it or not, this great country was founded by men who believed in God. And "separation of church and state" is a myth. What the government cannot do is set up state-run church. Bottom line - Get over it!
You're right, NE0, I don't believe that God belongs in government. There's also another reason why I dislike the phrase "In God we trust." It is simply a lie. If there is a higher power of some sort, and we refer to it as God, then "one nation, under God" is technically correct and maybe excusable, though still pointless. However, I suspect that many of us do not trust in God, whether or not He exists. Our lack of trust may be a bad thing to some people, but it's a fact. Besides, why bother printing extra words on a dollar bill? As to removing the founding fathers' portraits, it doesn't matter to me if we do. "In the year of our Lord" was a standard way of writing dates and doesn't really mean anything, other than that the Constitution was written in AD 1787 and not BC. Either way, the founding fathers' portraits don't contain overt references to God. But if we reprint money to get rid of "In God we trust," we might as well do a complete redesign. By the way, I don't consider myself one of the group of people that promote freedom of speech, expression, and choice.
America was founded by great men, but they weren't perfect. There is no reason to perpetuate a mistake, even if it was made by great men.
Where were you when the Founding Fathers needed you, zorra? You obviously know a helluva lot more than they did!
Why does the fact that most people believe in God bother you so much? What do you hold against them and God? I am about to make a stereotype that I believe is true. Most "atheists" not only deny that a God exists, but they also hate the word "God" and any idea of God. Why is that? Just because I hate french cuisine doesn't mean I should try and banish it from the world!
I don't have a problem with people who believe in God. In fact, I think it's very possible that there is some kind of God. I just have a problem with people who worship and trust in this God. I believe it is our duty to defy or at least to ignore any God who may exist, even if this means eternal damnation.
Theocracy is the most dangerous form of government.
Let's see... removing "In God we trust," "Federal Reserve," and the founding fathers' portraits... all great ideas. I'm going to start a petition.
We should have all kinds of money. Holy money, secular money, hip-hop money, sports theme money. Paper currency should also have jokes or fun facts on it.
I know this poll is about currency, but on a similar note, remember that saying, "...under God.." while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is not an affirmation of a belief in God; it is merely an acknowledgment that this country was founded upon the principles of Christianity. There's nothing you can do about the religious opinions of our forefathers. Furthermore, the U.S. Constitution is not a living breathing document to be altered in order to cater to the sociological fads and fancies of our society, which is exactly what a lot of rogue judges are attempting to do.
True, this country was founded upon the principles of Christianity, and there's nothing we can do about it. But why not remove "In God we trust" from money or "under God" from the Pledge? I think it's about time people stopped caring about God.

Just give me your money so you don't have to look at it. Seriously, there is tradition, symbolism and history, which mean a lot to America and whether you like it or not, the majority of Americans do believe in God, so you would be the minority in this case. Probably not the minority on this website, but in America Yes. How ironic that you are exercising your freedom of speech while not being a promoter of it.
I have a better idea: You give me your money so that I can cross out "In God we trust." How ironic that a nation that is supposedly a bastion of freedom trusts in a mythological figure promoted as a cruel, megalomaniacal puppetmaster.
And I know I am the minority in almost everything in America and possibly the entire world.
they should remove it. because they make it like money is god. george washington is god on the one dollar bill and the rest are god. how many god do we have here. 1 2 5 10 20 50 100 plus the coins. man. theres alot of god. hahahahah. its such a disgrace for the christian.
we should keep it because that is what the leaders of our country follow and belive and more than half of the u.s
