COMMENTS:
i agree with you that it's bad to try to get into heaven. but we cannot buy or earn, or force our way in. heaven is achieved by believing Christ took away your sin. a lot of religious people try to scare a person into repentance but they mean well. they want to see people saved. the thing is that we should yearn for heaven because it is the place were our Lord Christ is, not because it's a good place in of itself. Christ loves us which is why we must love Him back and want to be with Him. That is the only way to achieve true peace. Christ was selfless as we must be. We have to choose to be selfless or not because Christ has said "there is no greater gift than to lay down one's life for his freinds"... this is so true, we must be willing to show that kind of sacrafice to others out of love... and do it with no thought of anything in return. Praise Jesus!!
So in other words: accept jesus' unconditional love or burn! And if that's all it takes to get into heaven then are all the comandments irrelevent? If I'll get into heaven just by choosing jesus christ as my personal lord and savior, why bother being a good person and following the rules? Or what about people who have lived a good life, but have never heard of jesus or the bible (ex. some pacific islanders who have no contact with the outside world, or african bushmen), do they go straight to hell? Seems kinda unfair to me, and a screwy way to design the cosmos. Just some questions I've never gotten satisfactory answers to.
Herzog, you haven't been genuinely redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ; you haven't been born again; you haven't really understood Jesus Christ's life, death and resurrection; you have yet to know what God's love really is all about; you haven't accepted His sacrifice nor received the Holy Spirit; you haven't truly repented of your sins before Him; perhaps you haven't really given Jesus a chance in your life...so until then, you will truthfully comprehend the meaning of "being saved".
And regarding your questions, I suggest you search for the word "disproving" in the ballot search box, and click on that ballot. Scroll down to the middle of it, and you'll find the answer. Goodluck!
herzog, it's impossible to keep all the 10 commandments every day. but the commandments are not irrelevant. God created the commandments for our benefit, not His. He made the commandments to keep us out of trouble, and sent Christ to make sure that by accepting Him we get to Heaven, and by His sacrifice that we are right with God again. it's not as hard as you see people make it. peopole have a hard time accepting something so free and simple as God's unconditional love.
wait! also herzog, my comments are not meant to anger you, i want to see if i can shed some light on your questions. a good website is: www. christiananswers. net try that, it's pretty good site and answers many general questions and such. as far as the pacific islanders, no one will go to hell or heaven without hearing the message of christ. there will never be anyone born who can say "i never knew about jesus, why am i in hell?" no, in fact every living cognisent adult will get to choose. babies that die and those persons born with mental deficiencies who die as adults go to heaven because they don't have the mental cognisence to be able to choose.
does being a witch mean youre screwed then? uh-oh, i guess me being nice and kind and respectful of all life like my religion teaches doesn't count for jack? well i don't care. i don't think religion count really, if you're a good person then you're set for a happy afterlife or reincarnation or whatever. and if all that's crap, at least you've made life more pleasant for yourself and others before you go.
Stranger7800. I assume you have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. What exactly did that redemption entail? Please go into detail what the process feels like because I have often felt God's love pouring down into my soul. Why do you think that I need to somehow accept Jesus as God's representative when I have God's love already?
Cretin, I will honestly tell you that I was once an atheist. That's how we scientists are, more often than not (no bragging intended there). Could you please read my comment for Herzog, and seriously ponder upon it as if it was for you, because it is. When you said you felt "God's love pouring down you soul", I believe you with all of my heart. But feeling His love is not all that there is. People who 'genuinely' accepted the redemption by the blood of Jesus Christ have this deep sense of peace, love, faith, hope, contentment, and so much more. Have you ever been in a true born-again Christian family's funeral, where the person who died was believed to be a true born-again Christian?
I hope that when the stranger takes all those falsified doctrines nonsense out to the wilderness with him it helps him through. The greco-roman judaeo -christian civilisation he enjoys is about to be wiped out.I hope he copes all by himself either on blood stained streets or the vast , dark enveloping wilderness .All alone with not another person is sight. Christians wont annoy or cause any problems with their refusal to address the realities of their faked doctrine so it'll be okay then.Have fun trying to convert a tree
I don't think I have been to a true born again Christian's funeral, Stranger. What is different about it? Secondly the things you mention that you say come from Christ I say have come from God. My experience of God is totally devoid of any cultural assumptions or any sign that a man's hand is involved. With the best will in the world I cannot say that about any religion. My faith in God is so valuable to me precisely because it has nothing/everything to do with this world. It is pure. Must dash now but will catch up tomorrow.
BMN is obviously a stalker of the stranger. =)
Aight Cretin, dash it good, fella! When you get to a true born-again Christian's funeral...then you'll remember the "stranger's words". Take care now.
Cretin said: "the things you mention that you say come from Christ I say have come from God" Because Jesus is God.
Not quite,cretin_slap actually.Hes one of the few who says good things
Jesus Is God is a correct statement What is incorrect is interpretation which is what Stranger is doing by the priests forged doctrines
I wish everyone in the world could agree on the basics; that God exists and the way in which we worship him (which is only really a cultural thing) is not really as important. That way all monotheistic religions could peacefully co-exist in a spirit of love and tolerance. I don't want to have to believe that massive groups of people around the world are going to Hell just for being born into the wrong religion. I'm sure Jesus wouldn't mind if I decided to ignore him even if he was God or the Son of God. Surely he would understand my feelings and forgive me. And if Jesus is God then by worshipping God and not Jesus then I am actually worshipping Jesus as well. So there you go. I ain't goin' to no Hell, man.
There is nothing sadder than people believing in something because they're afraid not to. Sounds kind of like Iraq. Considering one woman, not only discovered the missing body of Christ, but was also the only individual to have seen him alive after his crucification! If a prostitute came forward, in this day, claiming she saw the resurrection of a possible Messiah, would people believe her? All I know is, most of Christianity hates me, yet has never met me (including Christian George B.), what's so Christian about that! These days, saying "I'm a Christian" is like saying "I have a Mercedes" it's all about image, not love and compassion!

Yes it was perfectly said Guest_95afb. I hope you can register to this site, I like the way you think. I look at my hometown and I have noticed a few things. I'm not sure if this was mentioned yet, but I find it absolutely ridiculous when people think "those who go to church are good people." That is absolute BS. When I used to be Catholic, I would go to church. And I'd look at the people who go there, all dressed up in their fancy clothes trying to get a good image of themselves. Then I noticed several of the people who go there are these girls from school who mistreat everyone they see. They torment anyone who is not rich like them. Let's just say heaven does exist- do they actually think they are going to heaven just because they go to mass? If there is a heaven, I hope those who go are the ones who lived out a good life and treated everyone with the utmost respect.
I AM A CHRISTIAN AND AGREE "MAN CAN NO ENTER HEAVEN BY WORK ALONE" ONLY CERTIAN KINDS OF RELIGIONS BELIEVE WORKS HELP...I MYSELF AM BAPTIST...AND GOD DIDNT CHOOSE PPL FOR WAT THEY DO..ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BELIEVE JESUS IS YOUR SAVIOR...thats it!!! NO WORKING....IM NOT PERFECT AND I DONT DO STUFF TO LOOK LIKE A GOOD CHRISTIAN...HELL IM A VERY VERY NOT PERFECT PERSON BUT I BELIEVE JESUS IS MY SAVIOUR THATS ALL I NEED...GOD BLESS (-:
It's like this: There's a lot of Christians (and Muslims, and Jews, and on and on) out there with friends that seem really nice, except that they're Atheist (or of a different faith) and it bothers them. There's also a lot of Atheists out there with friends that seem really intelligent except that they're religious, and that bothers them. So everybody tries to convince everybody else how ignorant they're being, and in the end everybody's frusterated. So what you have to do, *no matter which side you're on*, is be happy that your friend is a good person, and let the rest go. This Atheist has got a best friend that's a hardcore Christian, and it bothers me, because I see religion as a sham. But he doesn't see it that way, and nothing I can do or say is going to change his mind. So I've set that issue aside, and I've taken stock in the fact that religion or no, he's a good person. That's gonna have to be enough for everybody, or we're never going to get anywhere.
Religion gives people a sense of significance that they can not otherwise get in the real world.
christians worship God,, athiests worship the internet
The same thing that's wrong with anti-religious people, they're too preachy.
I do not do good deeds because I seek reward or to enhance reputation. I do so because I feel compassion. Compassion, a natural human instinct. (by the way I am a mix of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian) I believe the best virtue is to give without expecting anything in return.
