PLASTIC SURGERY: SELF-IMPROVEMENT OR SELF-MUTILATION?

[+] serious ballot by supposablethumbs
created Fri May 28, 04

U.S. News and World Report recently did a cover story highlighting the risks of modern cosmetic surgery. Complications may include blood clots, pulmonary embolism, hernia deaths, gall bladder removal, infection, perforated intestines, death, and if you inject to much Botox you might look like a bat. But you could possibly look more attractive. However, it is evident that there are still serious risks to undertaking unnecessary surgeries. What do you think?

COMMENTS:
It's all a matter of degree. A lot of people get this pie-eyed wind-tunnel look that is positively alien. Why not just have a few filets removed here and there, rather than a pound of skin? I understand if people don't want to look scary when they get older, but many take it too far. What really irks me is when a person who has made a fortune with their face the way it was, turns it into another face. It's disrespectul to the audience who has made them popular in the first place. And what's with the new Joker, trout-lips thing? Bizarre.

I've had two nose jobs, but they were for reconstructive reasons after breaking it too many times.

Like mojo said. It is all about doing it in moderation and making a well-informed decision based off of what you think will make you happy. I am not against plastic surgery persay, but there are always people out there who take it too far. There really isn't that much risk involved with the odd nosejob or breast ogmentation surgery these days. I personally like my women as natural as possible tho.
