COMMENTS:
If you can get hold of Chris Sqires solo album "fish out of water" or download it from the net, then you will really hear the brilliance of this extraordinary bassist.
Just a further note, Chris Squire has in the past been voted as the worlds best. date unkown
Isn't Entwistle dead?
Yeah, I meant dead or alive.
...added a few more. Mick Karn is amazing on the old Japan stuff. He plays fretless.
Guest_6ab2e you are quite obviously a Moron with no musical taste to make such a stupid comment. I suggest you go back to retard school and stay there.
How about some better bassists like Geddy Lee, Stuart Hamm, Victor Wooten... you might as well put Mark Hoppus on the list to continue the pattern.

I was utterly BLOWN AWAY when I saw Primus supporting Jane's Addiction in London in '89. I'd never heard of them but there was this charismatic front man jumping around, singing and slapping away incredible bass lines on a 6-string fretless. What an amazing musician!!! As a huge fan of early Genesis, however, I'm putting Mike Rutherford who tends to get overlooked as the exceptional musician he is, even by many fellow early-Genesis fans. Someone ought to mention Jaco Pastorius too.
Victor Wooten from Bela Fleck and Flectones, if you don't know who he is check him out...
Jack Bruce... the real balls behind Clapton and Cream
Marilyn Manson is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!!!!
Mike Rutherford is one bad ass bassist! Question though, where is JOHN WETTON??
John Entwistle- Without question.
Flea's great and all, but who on Earth would call him a better bassist than Les Claypool? These people must have never listened to Primus in their lives.
yes agreed, marilin manson is drop dead georgeous!
SHAVO!!!!!!!!!S.O.A.D.
I know it's extremely uncool but is has to be Geddy Lee.
Malcom Young all the way
shavo geddy lee and flea. What a combination that would be. All got silly names too. oh im a bassist too. might be something in that :)
Extremely good. Also he is a great keyboardist, prolific song writer and unique as a vocalist.
The guy from yes.

I saw Chris Squire in the Boston Garden in 1977. And just saw him and Rick Wakeman, Steve Howe on TV recently.......AMAZING They can do things that musicians today only dream about.

Because most people who comment on this list haven't seen guys like Les Claypool play...Flea is probably the most popular, but not the best
