Troops get paid enough. The average pay for a SPC E-4 serving in Iraq is approx 2000 dollars a month TAX FREE. As an E-5 with 4 years in the military, I get around 1600 a month after taxes without serving in a hostile area. I have no bills nor do I have to pay for food, housing ect. I make enough and so does every other soldier. Blame the government for the tax raises as NOT ONE soldier I know is complaining about their income. It's just another incentive that the US government is trying giving us to extend our enlistments or trick new kids into joining. It's bullshit
I was making about $400 (net), per month in 1983 when I was a PROUD, boot PFC. in the United States Marine Corps. I had been in the Corps, all of 8 months, before the barracks in Beirut landed on top of me one Sunday morning in October! I say, one should have to stand a FUCKING POST, before one asks for a pay increase!

Nope, I wouldnt want the extra taxes to pay for an increase because our govnt is wasting money in other areas, why dont they quit wasting money on trying to figure out how to get a man on Mars and the military can get their raise from that.
Also, the military is UNDER-paid. Dependingon the job yopu carry, some people end up working a lot harder then others and longer hours. For instance, Jet Engine mechanics are making (or were when I was in) $700 every two weeks if you were an e-3 and the desk jockey at the gym was making the same amount to hand towels to people walking into the gym. hmmm, not a good way to keep your best mechanics in the military is it?
Bottom line is the US Govnt is irresponsible in spending and they are wasting money and I am not willing to pay more for there screw ups
I say thank all the people who support the services how ever they choose. Although more pay would be nice for military families so many could get off food stamps, I think if taxes were raised for tht specific purpose, it would cause more hate in discontent in our own country. There are already enough people who think Military make too much as it is. The sad truth is, a lot of us scrape by every month.
Better Plan-cut salaries of prez,senators,congressmen.Get rid of all those needless perks like limos,parties,all that bullshit.Why pay millionaires more money anyway?Get aristocracy out of government get real working people in for once,eliminate the jackoffs

Hell yes!They risk their lives for yheir (our)country.They deserve the best.Thank you.And I really don't care some of you say they are overpaid.No,I don't think so.They should not have to pay ANY TAX either.And those who are in infantry should get special pay grade.I don't think it's fair for them to get same pay as chew hall cook.

How about cutting benifits to illegal immigrants, to pay for a raise.
I was in the Airforce and some of my fellow Airmen had to go on welfare to stay afloat, for doing the most important job in the nation, they sure dont make much. I support anything that provides them the means to support themselves.
