It's wonderful for people like me who have no life of their own! And it's actually got a relatively intelligent demographic audience (I'm an Oxford maths graduate and master of music).
I notice you said "relatively" there, keithsheen. Eastenders is sick, social conditioning. Anyone who watches it really does have no life of their own. Sitting alone and contemplating your own existence is much more of a life than wasting one second watching Eastenders.
