As if you U.K. university live-at-home leftists sounded more intelligent with your strident shrieking and screaming and smug pronouncements, then your cringing and fawning when confronted with any actual moral challenge! ...But, see, sammy, *you're* within the pale with your insults. It's one thing to call someone a "loud mouth" or a "braggar" (sic) or a moron or cretin or "stupid Yank" or whatever. That's one matter. It's another to threaten to rape and kill someone's family or friends or even the house cat. It hardly matters if spoken as hyperbole, gallows humor, or in haste. I am not shy about tossing about invective, but, I have never, within my memory, threatened my opponent's life or, worse than that, their innocent bystander family members.
There's no cleverness to such or moral high ground. It just seems deranged, sammy.

About what Tommo said, I think is just a missunderstanding. Maybe he had a bad day or something. I had my share of contradictions with Tommo, but he never reacted this way. Anyway he sounds very smart to me.

I've found that if you have patience with him to communicate tactfully, then Tommo can be reasonable and understanding.
You may have unknowingly pushed a wrong button with him on the wrong day, but don't we all have a day like this on the odd occasion.
Besides that, where Tommo lives is irrelavent to what was said and he probably dosen't really mean what was said as many of us have a moment where we let off a bit of steam with an outburst in a similar fashion to what Tommo did.

Hey Felix, I agree that it wasn't in the best taste to say things like that, especially in this day and age and I can see why it would disturb you. I have spoken to Tommo on several occasions and he's always been a nice buy so maybe, like the others said, he had a bad day or was extra sensitive for some reason. You never know what's going on in someones personal life. Not excusing the comments, just trying to understand why a very nice person would say such things. :)

At any rate, I'd been thinking of leaving off posting on this site, and I think this incident has more or less confirmed it for me.
