Sabbath was the FIRST true metal band.I like Zep overall more but they weren't as metal as Sabbath.
The Yardbirds were the true inovators of their time. They practically invented the long guitar solo and the "jam". They had lead guitar greats such as Eric Slowhand Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Buckley.
