COMMENTS:
If the human beings that made Christianity the state religion of Rome didn't pretend Christ was God in human form then Christians could logically ignore Christ and find their own spiritual way. Seeing as most religions are about earthly power it's worth having an idol that has some clout.
great question

I thought that Christ was God in the flesh.
I ask that very same question alot, in the bible it is written that, Christ states, "I did not come here to be glorified," and still, he is more than God is it seems. Heck, I don't know, maybe its me, but, human beings tend to ignore some things in the bible and will lay their lives down to defend other portions of the bible. This was an excellent question Guest_597cc, so, take a bow and some karma with you as well :)
Christ, along with the Holy Spirit, is God.
Well put.
sorry, i can't hold back anymore. YOU PEOPLE NEED CHRIST!!
Interesting ... I have been discussing exactly this with a fundamentalist relative. I was raised Christian, but as an adult, was suddenly struck by this Trinity thing ... it certainly smacked of Polytheism to me! And the 1st Commandment ... well, what was the deal, here? It has been explained that there is a 3-in-1 concept at play. Perhaps I am too limited, but that seems awfully convenient. I still don't see how it isn't polytheism, if we have three entities that are all deserving of different names. I can completely believe that Guest597 has a Christian upbringing, Anonymous. Cut him some slack -- a person who believes because he/she has thought things through and seriously considered the faith has a lot more credibility, to me, than one who believe sbecaus ethat is teh faith they were born into.
Guestcb5f7: Interesting! Where did that excerpt come from?
God in three persons -- Father, Son, & Holy Spirit = Trinity
christ is suposed to be part of the trinity and the trinity is God so it can be justafied. Christians feel free to prove me wrong.

Thou shalt hold no graven images before the one true God. Jesus Christ was the son of God, or, to be even more accurate, God personified in the flesh. There are certain concepts that God does not expect us to understand, one being the concept of Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, when there is no beginning or end for God, He just is. The concept of two being One is not easy for we as humans to understand, but God is not in the flesh in the way we would think, He manifests himself in spirit form not only all around us but within us as well. That's the view most Christians have of God, Christ was the son of God, but the spirit of Christ was one as God himself. Does that make it any clearer.
I studied religion in college. Did you know that the concept of the trinity was not even promulgated untill the 1600's
I thought the trinity was decided upon at the Council of Nicaea in 325, after declaring arminianism heretical.
On a similar note... doesn't anyone think it strange that God said He was the most powerful of all the Gods?! What did we miss?
It is explained like an apple. Jesus is the skin of the apple God the father the inside, and the Holy Spirit the seeds. You worship the whole "apple". It can also be depicted as God being an author of a book. God is the author, who has the idea of the story, Jesus is the pen who does the story through God the father, and the Holy Spirit is like the book agent that sells the book to people.
Jesus is mearly God made man, I mean as in a human earthly manifestation of God.
